The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balboa knocks mcdonald to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
mcdonald is rocked! Balboa tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Oh mcdonald is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! mcdonald tries to bench press Balboa off him but Balboa keeps the position. mcdonald misses with an elbow from the bottom. mcdonald is looking to reverse the position. Balboa tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. mcdonald is positioning himself to get back to half guard. mcdonald seems to have got his legs back now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Balboa drops mcdonald with a huge uppercut! mcdonald drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Balboa is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

It looks like Gabriel Battle has been cut. Kerestes clinches up with Battle and pushes him back against the cage. Oh Battle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Battle can't break the clinch.
Kerestes keeps control of Battle as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Kerestes manages to break the clinch.
Battle thows a left - swing and a miss! Battle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice shot lands for Battle. Kerestes connects with a stiff jab that staggers Battle - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hitchcock closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hitchcock looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Romero pushes Hitchcock off and gets back to his feet. Hitchcock looks to land a combination but Romero avoids it well. Romero uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hitchcock. Romero lands a head kick!

Branham crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Damashii - the referee stops the clock and Branham gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Damashii. Branham manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Damashii bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Branham's head. Branham darts in and clinches Damashii up against the cage. Damashii has had enough of the clinch but Branham keeps him there for the moment. Branham throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Branham closes the distance but Damashii moves to the side and Damashii counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Damashii tries to close the distance and clinch but Branham swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Branham tries to clinch but Damashii is having none of it. Branham takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Barbetti misses with a takedown attempt - McDanver sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Barbetti shoots in for a takedown but McDanver shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conjo Barbetti. That's going to take a lot out of him. McDanver lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. McDanver lands a slapping body shot.

The fighters are battling for position here. McDanver manages to regain full guard. Nice work. McDanver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barbetti is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McDanver is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McDanver has escaped and now he's on top! McDanver trying to stand up but can't free himself from Barbetti's guard. Silva is not going to allow Tanaka to sit and survive in this position. Tanaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. the wrestler is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Machado. Machado decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Machado is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from the wrestler as he works his way to full guard.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Machado drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and the wrestler dives on top into guard. Machado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Machado is looking for a triangle but the wrestler pushes his legs off easily.

Machado lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for the wrestler! Machado jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… the wrestler is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by the wrestler and Machado has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Machado wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by the wrestler, who protects the arm well. Machado goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, the wrestler has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Machado but great work by the wrestler. the wrestler is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Machado's shoulder. That is not cool. Machado tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but the wrestler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Machado is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Machado tries to get to full guard but the wrestler has control of the leg. Machado makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Machado. Machado looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but the wrestler puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Machado shoots in and bounces the wrestler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. the wrestler is looking to stand up but Machado isn't so interested in that idea. Machado postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! the wrestler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Machado, into his guard.
