Venable is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Venable throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as fraser stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Venable follows into mount!

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knut Grepp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thunder's entrance music is Times they are a changing. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Grepp keeps the fight on the outside.
Thunder throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Thunder wants to clinch up but Grepp keeps it at a distance.
Thunder shoots in but Grepp avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Thunder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grepp paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thunder tries to clinch there but Grepp circles away.
Thunder misses with a takedown attempt - Grepp sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Thunder counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Grepp gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Thunder is sitting in close to Grepp's body. Grepp has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Thunder is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Thunder is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Grepp.

Lennon scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Khan doesn't seem bothered though.
Khan sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Lennon to the ground! Khan dives into full mount looking to finish!

It looks like John Lennon has been cut.
Lennon wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Khan.

Khan stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The referee warns Khan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Khan wants to hold on but Lennon pushes him away.

Lennon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Khan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valesquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zola as he avoids it easily.

Zola clinches.
Zola lands an uppercut.
Zola lands a nice shot to the body.
Zola scores with a shot to the side of Valesquez's head.
A nice left hand lands by Zola.
Valesquez fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Gianfranco Zola has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabricio Valesquez.
Zola tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Valesquez has Zola pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Zola manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Valesquez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Zola gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Valesquez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Zola wants to get up but he can't break Valesquez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Zola thows a big elbow that misses.

Valesquez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zola gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Valesquez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Zola wants to control from the top but Valesquez keeps moving.
Zola tries to free his leg and advance position but Valesquez is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Zola takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Valesquez gets a takedown into half guard.
Zola is trying to maintain the position but Valesquez is very close to passing his half guard.
Zola is trying to get back to full guard.

Valesquez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zola doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Valesquez.
Valesquez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Zola's head.
Zola is looking for a sweep. Valesquez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Zola is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Valesquez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Valesquez's back!
Zola keeps control of the position as Valesquez tries to break free.
Valesquez manages to reverse the position and now he's in Zola's guard. Nice work there by Valesquez.

Valesquez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Zola looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Valesquez has picked Zola up and slammed him! Zola can't keep hold of the triangle and Valesquez manages to pass to side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Horrible takedown by Valesquez or perhaps it was just good defense by Zola which made him look bad.

Valesquez tries to keep at a distance but Zola has taken the fight into the clinch.

Zola is working for a rear naked choke. Valesquez is not defending it well and Zola has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Valesquez refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Valesquez's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
