The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A choreographed right hand from Lafita misses the target. Lewis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lafita, pushing him back against the cage. Lewis tries to land knees in the clinch but Lafita avoids the damage to the body. Lewis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lafita.

Both guys are working to get underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lewis wants the takedown. Lafita is fighting it off but Lewis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lafita's guard against the cage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lewis wants to stand but Lafita has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Lewis stopping the sweep attempt from Lafita.

Lewis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lafita stops Lewis from standing up. Lafita postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lafita throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lafita accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lafita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lewis wants to stand and escape but Lafita is having none of it. Lewis looks gassed!

and Lewis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lewis. Lafita swings wildly with an uppercut but Lewis uses good head movement to avoid it.

May gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Flisberg looks to score with a jab to the body but May is just out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position. Flisberg is trying to break the clinch but May has him pressed against the cage. May is trying to maintain a safe position but Flisberg gets an underhook and turns May into the cage. May tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Flisberg pulls guard. Flisberg throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. May slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. You can see the frustration on Flisberg's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Flisberg is trying to get back to his feet. Flisberg gets back to half guard. May perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
