The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pencil is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Jackson misses with a head kick.
Pencil tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes. Pencil tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jackson cracks Pencil with a good jab. Jackson thuds a left hand into Pencil's body. Jackson swings for the body but Pencil moves out of range.
Pencil rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jackson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A thudding body kick lands there by Jackson!

Pencil tries to keep at a distance but Jackson has taken the fight into the clinch. Jackson digs a right hand underneath Pencil's ribcage. Pencil let out a lung full of air as it connected. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A shot in the inside from Jackson. Jackson gets through Pencil's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A short right from Jackson. Pencil tries to pull guard but Jackson holds him up against the cage and eventually Pencil drops back down to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pencil looking to secure an arm triangle but Jackson defends it well.

Jackson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Pencil's arms. Jackson is taking damage to the body and head. Pencil is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Jackson won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Pencil off his unconscious opponent!

He's got his arms around Edmarker's waist but Edmarker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side. Alves fails with the takedown. Edmarker tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.

Alves has Edmarker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Edmarker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Edmarker landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Edmarker lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Edmarker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Edmarker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves. Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Edmarker fails with an attempt to clinch.

Edmarker using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Alves has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Edmarker throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Alves blocks it with crossed arms. Edmarker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Edmarker landing knees to the head.

Alves ducks under a wild hook from Edmarker. Alves misses with a takedown attempt - Edmarker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Alves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Alves is working to tighten is grip on Edmarker's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Edmarker has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Alves is really squeezing tight and eventually Edmarker passes out! Alves breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanford's head. Butautas controlling the pace. Butautas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sanford is just riding it out for now. Butautas eventually gives up the hold. Sanford is trying to stand.

Butautas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sanford knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Butautas on the ground. Butautas throwing shots but Sanford is blocking nicely. Butautas sitting and controlling from the half guard. Butautas is pressing down on Sanford's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sanford is holding on for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Butautas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Butautas wants to control but Sanford is keeping him busy. Butautas has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Sanford is squirming around, avoiding Butautas's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Butautas wants to finish this one by submission but Sanford is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Butautas. Butautas trying to control but he's not successful this time. Butautas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sanford can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Butautas looks gassed! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Butautas sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Algimantas Butautas dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Butautas smiles back at him and beckons him forward. A punch combination from Sanford misses. Sanford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Rubadub Sanford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Butautas. A head kick by Sanford misses and Butautas counters with a good, hard body kick but Sanford shrugs it off. Sanford throws a head kick that half lands.
Butautas is rocked! Sanford tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Butautas is still on wobbly legs! Can Sanford finish him? Lauzon throws a series of punches but El Pancho moves out of range. El Pancho shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lauzon as he jumps to the side. El Pancho working for a guillotine from mount but Lauzon is in no mood to give up. El Pancho is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Lauzon has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Lauzon! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
