The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gambino takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gambino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Phoenix misses with the combination.

Phoenix moves into the clinch successfully.
Phoenix could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gambino is trying to break free.

and Phoenix counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Gambino has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Phoenix is proving hard to escape from.

Gambino shoots in looking for a takedown. Phoenix tries to sprawl out of it but Gambino keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Phoenix manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Phoenix lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Phoenix will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gambino lands with a right that hurts Phoenix. Phoenix looks to clinch but Gambino throws a short knee that drops Phoenix. This one is all over!

Sharp sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Jablowme fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Eric Sharp has been cut.

Sharp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jablowme is not content to let Sharp control the position.
Jablowme tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sharp trying to control the position but Jablowme is working away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jablowme looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sharp with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jablowme is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sharp is just riding it out for now. Jablowme eventually gives up the hold.
Sharp wants to get back to full guard but Jablowme has passed into side control.

Lukas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lovelace as he jumps to the side.
Lukas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lukas shoots for a takedown but Lovelace saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lovelace should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Lovelace pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lukas cracks Lovelace with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Lovelace moves into the clinch.
Lovelace stops a takedown attempt from Lukas.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rube Lukas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lukas wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lukas drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lovelace misses with a head kick.

Lukas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sarcoma had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rutger is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sarcoma Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rutger's back instead.
