0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Grimlock Jones! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dickson closes the distance and clinches. Dickson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jones tries for a takedown but Dickson manages to get underhooks.

Jones jumps guard but Dickson stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones has hold of Dickson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dickson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Imai throws a low kick, looking for Chavez's leg but Chavez calmly moves out of range. Chavez fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Imai is out of range. Chavez lands a lovely overhand right. Imai shoots in for a double leg but Chavez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Chavez throws a body punch but Imai moves out of range. Imai moves in looking to clinch but Chavez pushes him off. Chavez misses with a low kick.
Chavez misses with an uppercut. Imai feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Chavez controls Imai momentarily but Imai frees himself. Imai is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chavez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chavez has escaped and now he's on top! Imai has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Chavez's face.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Chavez will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Imai has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Chavez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Imai. Imai is trying to get back to half guard. Chavez with the active half guard here but Imai passes nicely into side control. You can see the frustration on Chavez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Imai is trying to land an Americana. Diaz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Turtles pulls him back up using the underhooks. Diaz goes for a takedown attempt but Turtles pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Diaz looks to land a combination. Turtles sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Diaz scores with a one two! Turtles had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Turtles lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Turtles. Diaz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Turtles stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Turtles fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Turtles persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Turtles is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Turtles is working for a submission of some sort.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Turtles wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Noah Diaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Turtles can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Turtles preventing the sweep. Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Turtles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Turtles is one step ahead there. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Turtles tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to iLike Turtles. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turtles, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Muhammed pivots, looking for a leg kick but McThornbody is out of range and Muhammed settles back down. Nice sprawl there from McThornbody as Muhammed shoots in. McThornbody misses with a leg kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Muhammed. A decent looking body kick lands there for McThornbody. Muhammed shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McThornbody can do anything to dispel that myth. Muhammed is breathing heavily. McThornbody is looking to escape. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Muhammed is working hard here to advance position. McThornbody wants to stand but Muhammed is controlling his posture from full guard. McThornbody not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Muhammed tries to get to full guard but McThornbody has control of the leg. Muhammed trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Muhammed escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McThornbody gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Muhammed had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McThornbody is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Muhammed Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McThornbody's back instead. Muhammed missing with strikes from the back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Muhammed patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Muhammed has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, McThornbody has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
McThornbody is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Muhammed gets his way!

McThornbody is looking to stand up but Muhammed won't let him. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Muhammed working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McThornbody doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McThornbody manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Muhammed is looking for a triangle but McThornbody pushes his legs off easily.

Muhammed Muhammed dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
McThornbody slips under a jab. Muhammed scores a takedown into full mount! Muhammed misses with a head shot. Muhammed throws some wild stikes that McThornbody manages to avoid easily.
Muhammed is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McThornbody has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McThornbody has left one of his arms exposed and Muhammed doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. McThornbody screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
