The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gordon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Turdang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gordon throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Turdang works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Gordon is thwarting Turdang's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gordon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gordon wants to free his trapped foot but Turdang is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Palo as he jumps to the side.
Palo misses with a hook.
Palo just misses with a punch to the body.

Fontana looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fontana trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Palo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Palo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fontana scores with a hook to the body. Palo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

It looks like Paulo Fontana has been cut.
Palo lands with an overhand left.
Palo throws a sloppy head kick and Fontana moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Palo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Palo looks to land a combination but Fontana avoids it well.
Fontana moves forwards but Palo connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Palo throws a looping overhand right but Fontana ducks down to avoid it.
Fontana throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Palo.
Palo misses with a straight left.
Fontana takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Palo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Fontana counters by clinching up.
Fontana blocking some punches.

Palo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Palo falls off balance throwing a combination

and Fontana counters with a nice double leg into side control. Palo won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fontana tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fontana looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Palo is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fontana trying to control the action but Palo is working from the bottom.

You can see the frustration on Palo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Palo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fontana on the ground.

Palo holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Fontana wants to control but Palo is keeping him busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fontana shoots for a takedown but Palo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Fontana checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Palo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Fontana tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Palo swivels and escapes.
Tauno Palo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Fontana.
Palo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Tauno Palo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fontana looks gassed!
Palo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Palo lands a jab to the nose.
Nice straight punches there by Palo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Palo.

Fontana is rocked!

That has opened up Paulo Fontana's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fontana is still on wobbly legs! Can Palo finish him?
Palo lands an uppercut, right on the button! Fontana tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
