0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Becker! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Becker walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Becker throws a right and a left that both miss. Meadows fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Becker is out of range. No joy there for Becker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Meadows scores with a nice head shot. Meadows does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Edwin Meadows seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Becker takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Meadows bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Becker's head backwards.
Becker is rocked! Meadows throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Becker is still on wobbly legs! Can Meadows finish him? Meadows throws out a loose jab but Becker uses good head movement to avoid it. Becker ducks under a wild hook from Meadows. Becker is looking to clinch. Becker works over Meadows with some ground and pound from guard. Becker wants to get up but he can't break Meadows's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Meadows is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Edwin Meadows will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

enabling Becker to counter with a crisp jab. Becker takes a shot right to the bread basket. Meadows walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Becker drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Meadows swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Becker's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fedrigo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Fedrigo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Birch. Rudimar Fedrigo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fedrigo misses with a head kick.
Fedrigo throws a right and a left that both miss. Fedrigo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Fedrigo throws a combination. Birch tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Birch fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Fedrigo on the side of the head. Fedrigo misses with a few strikes there.

Birch decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Birch wants to stand up but Fedrigo has a hold of him and won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Birch stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Fedrigo to get to his feet. A head kick misses from Fedrigo.

Birch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Fedrigo looks gassed! Fedrigo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Birch escapes and gets back to his feet. Fedrigo throws a wild body kick that Birch sees coming a mile off. Fedrigo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fedrigo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Fedrigo has his takedown stuffed and Birch counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fedrigo! Birch get's back to his feet. Fedrigo stalks Birch and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Birch's face. Birch staggers backwards, shaken.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fedrigo tries for a takedown but Birch circles away easily and Birch counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fedrigo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Fedrigo looking for a sweep. Not yet Fedrigo, not yet. Birch wants to stand but Fedrigo has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Fedrigo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Birch has passed into half guard!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fedrigo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Birch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Birch wanted to stand there but Fedrigo had control of the position. Birch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fedrigo on the ground. Birch avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fedrigo is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fedrigo drops back looking for a leg! Birch is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Birch manages to kick Fedrigo off! Fedrigo jumps back into Birch's guard. Birch wants to stand but Fedrigo is controlling the position. Fedrigo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Birch wriggles free and stands up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fedrigo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Fedrigo throws a head kick but Birch moves out of range.

Greg Birch dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Greg Birch has been cut. Fedrigo is looking for a kimura here.
Oh Birch is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Fedrigo wants to take a breather but Birch is having none of it. Birch blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fedrigo. Birch seems to have got his legs back now. Fedrigo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Birch is trying to stand up. Fedrigo looking to secure an arm triangle but Birch defends it well. Fedrigo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Birch can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fedrigo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Birch can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fedrigo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Birch. Fedrigo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Fedrigo tries to clinch but fails miserably so Birch counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Birch prevents Fedrigo from getting back to his feet. Fedrigo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Birch stands up from mount. Strange move. Birch lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Cone is working hard here to advance position. Dos Santos wants to finish this one by submission but Cone is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dos Santos. Cone really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dos Santos has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cone's face.

Cone manages to regain half guard. Good work. Dos Santos has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dos Santos looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Cone is trying to escape the mount but Dos Santos keeps good control and instead manages to take Cone's back.

Olegario pushes Kenyon against the cage but Kenyon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Olegario will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Olegario closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kenyon circles away. Michael Kenyon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Olegario takes one to the chin there. Oh Olegario is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kenyon misses with a looping right. Olegario seems to have got his legs back now. Kenyon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Olegario moves out of range as Kenyon strikes. Olegario misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kenyon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Olegario sees it coming and avoids it easily. Olegario shoots in for a takedown but Kenyon shows good takedown defense. Kenyon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Kenyon tries to land a knee to the head but Olegario blocks with his arms.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Olegario jumps guard and drags Kenyon to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Kenyon trying to control the position from guard on top but Olegario is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kenyon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Olegario kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Olegario had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kenyon is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Olegario Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kenyon's back instead. Kenyon trying to control the hands but Olegario breaks the grip. Olegario looking for the RNC. Kenyon breaks Olegario 's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kenyon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Olegario working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kenyon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kenyon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kenyon passes into half guard. Olegario works his way to full guard. Good work. Kenyon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kenyon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Olegario trying to keep a closed guard but Kenyon is proving a slippery customer.
