Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick shannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitchell Butler! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! shannon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. shannon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Horrible takedown by shannon or perhaps it was just good defense by Butler which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick shannon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Butler tries to clinch but shannon moves out of range. Butler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Butler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Butler explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Butler throws a wild body kick that shannon sees coming a mile off. shannon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. shannon looking for a submission but Butler manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. shannon looking to sit in guard and control but Butler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. shannon is trying to control the position but Butler postures up. Butler wants to stand but shannon has a closed guard, so he can't escape. shannon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Butler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Butler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. shannon is breathing heavily. shannon throws his legs up looking for a submission but Butler uses it to pass to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Butler is chipping away with strikes.

Butler is looking to slow shannon down with leg kicks. shannon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Butler to the mat! Butler manages to get full guard. Butler wants to stand but shannon is controlling the position.

He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. shannon tries to free his leg and advance position but Butler is retaining full guard. shannon wants to stand and escape but instead Butler has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. shannon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Butler manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Butler is looking to improve his position.
Butler is pressing down on shannon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. shannon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Butler keeping moving, preventing shannon from controlling successfully. shannon trying to move into half guard but instead Butler has managed to sweep! The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. shannon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Butler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. shannon wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Butler is now in half guard. shannon trying to control from the bottom.

Mitchell Butler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Butler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
shannon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. shannon is looking to take a break and control but Butler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Butler tries to bench press shannon off him but shannon keeps the position. shannon stands up and beckons Butler to his feet. Butler is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from shannon. shannon throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
shannon tries to clinch but fails miserably and Butler counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. shannon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Butler is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. shannon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Butler's back instead. shannon is trying to stick to Butler's back but Butler is turning into shannon. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in shannon's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Butler. shannon trying to keep a closed guard but Butler is proving a slippery customer.

Butler keeps the fight on the outside. shannon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Nick shannon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitchell Butler. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. shannon lands a head kick. Nick shannon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Butler pulls shannon in close to prevent any damage. shannon tries to free his leg and advance position but Butler is retaining full guard. Butler wants to stand but shannon is controlling the position. shannon is looking to stand up but Butler won't let him.

There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. shannon stands up and waves to Butler to follow him. shannon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Butler tries to avoid it but shannon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Butler to the ground. Butler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Butler has taken the fight to the clinch.

shannon fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Butler clinches. Butler is trying to break free. Butler is trying to work for a single leg takedown but shannon pulls him back up using the underhooks. Butler breaks from the clinch.
shannon has a takedown stuffed. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Butler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for shannon! Butler tries to control but shannon wriggling away.
And that's the end of the fight! Nick shannon showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for shannon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Lowrey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ozdemir is looking to clinch. Ozdemir tries to clinch but Lowrey is having none of it. Ozdemir misses with a body shot.
Ozdemir defending well as Lowrey loads up on a big left hand. Ozdemir tries to clinch but Lowrey is having none of it. The crowd cheers as Lowrey lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ozdemir doesn't seem phased though. Ozdemir fails with a takedown attempt from distance. It's a brutal combination of punches from Lowrey! Ozdemir is backing up but he can't get away as Lowrey lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Ozdemir and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Cross comes to the ring accompanied by You're A Jerk. Donald Cross had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Gabriel is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Cross lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Gabriel or not. Cross works on Gabriel's body with a couple of short punches. Cross fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cross clinches up with Gabriel and pushes him back against the ropes. Cross lands a nice knee to the body. Gabriel wants to get back to striking at distance but Cross won't allow it.
Cross prevents Gabriel from breaking the clinch. Gabriel ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gabriel no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gabriel is pulling down on Cross's head to control his posture. Gabriel tries to strike from the bottom.
Cross wants to stand but Gabriel has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Gabriel wriggles free and stands up. Gabriel misses with a takedown and Cross counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Cross tries to stand and escape but Gabriel is controlling the position. Gabriel wants to get back to his feet.
Cross tries to pass to full mount but Gabriel defends it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gabriel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gabriel. Cross trying to control but Gabriel is working from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Donald Cross. I think Gabriel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Humungus attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Griffin clinches up against the ropes. Griffin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Humungus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A knee to the head by Humungus.
Humungus tries to land a knee to the head but Griffin blocks with his arms.
Griffin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Griffin manages to end up in side control. Humungus is trying to control Griffin's posture but Griffin avoids it. Humungus tries to strike but it doesn't land. Humungus sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Humungus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Humungus regains full guard. Nicely done. Humungus wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment. Griffin wants to control from the top but Humungus keeps moving. Humungus is breathing heavily. Griffin wanted to stand there but Humungus had control of the position. Humungus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Griffin is one step ahead there. Humungus wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Griffin is now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin wants to free his trapped foot but Humungus is holding on for dear life with his legs. Griffin is working for a kimura but Humungus is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Humungus wants to improve his position but Griffin is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Griffin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Griffin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Humungus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Humungus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Humungus manages to work his way to half guard, despite Griffin's best efforts. Humungus gets back to full guard.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Humungus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Griffin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Humungus's head. Humungus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Griffin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Griffin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Griffin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Griffin preventing the sweep. Humungus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Humungus pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Griffin taps out and this one is all over!

Duran is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Krunov is controlling him. Krunov chips away with some ground and pound. Krunov stopping the sweep attempt from Duran. That's two minutes gone in the round. Duran is looking for a sweep. Krunov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Duran taking some punishment here, with Krunov in his half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Krunov lands a nice short elbow. Krunov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Duran makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Duran. Duran has momentary wrist control but Krunov slips an elbow through the middle. Krunov stopping the sweep attempt from Duran. Duran wants to stand up but Krunov is controlling him. Krunov passes Duran's left leg - he's now in half guard. Duran is staying active underneath Krunov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
