Maia closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pepper to the mat! Pepper manages to get full guard.
Maia wants to pass the guard but Pepper is keeping the position.

Maia drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pepper manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maia has Pepper in his guard.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pepper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pepper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pepper is working to tighten is grip on Maia's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maia has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pepper is really squeezing tight and eventually Maia passes out! Pepper breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Smalls had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pardy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smalls Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pardy's back instead.
Pardy tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Smalls has control of Pardy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pardy regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Pardy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lebowski jabs Linderoth right on the nose. Linderoth blinks but takes it well.
Lebowski connects with a looping right hand.
Lebowski thuds a left hand into Linderoth's body.
Lebowski steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Linderoth.
A punch combination from Lebowski misses.
Lebowski throws a series of punches but Linderoth avoids them all with ease.
Jeff Lebowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lebowski misses with a wild combination.
Lebowski lands with a straight right. Linderoth didn't see that one coming.

Linderoth walks straight into a right hand from Lebowski - that's dropped him! Lebowski jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Linderoth from any more punishment! Linderoth complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
