3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dustin Chestnut! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Totoy Mola! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mola misses with a series of wild punches.
Chestnut is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Chestnut shoots in looking for a takedown. Mola tries to sprawl out of it but Chestnut keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mola manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Chestnut tries a head kick but it misses.
Mola lands a head shot. Excellent takedown into side control there by Chestnut. Chestnut wants to control but Mola is keeping him busy. Mola stops Chestnut from passing to mount. You can see the frustration on Mola's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chestnut in side control, just content to control the action for now. Chestnut wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mola, who protects the arm well. Mola bucks up and tries to throw Chestnut off but instead Chestnut has got his back! Chestnut controlling from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Chestnut is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mola with him. Mola is trying to defend but Chestnut has an arm under the chin now! Mola grimaces and is forced to tap out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Left hook, right uppercut from Phoenix. Phoenix throws a series of punches but Scrappypants moves out of range. Phoenix really is a fat lump. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Phoenix.
Phoenix pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Scrappypants throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phoenix rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Scrappypants moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Phoenix on the wrong end of a nice jab.
It looks like Merlin Phoenix has been cut. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Phoenix, right into the meat.
Phoenix looks to land a combination but Scrappypants avoids it well. Scrappypants avoids a punch combination nicely.
Phoenix throws a right hand that Scrappypants ducks under and follows up with a left that Scrappypants also avoids with ease. Phoenix scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Scrappypants trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Phoenix knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Scrappypants on the ground. Scrappypants scoring with some ground and pound. Scrappypants thows a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scrappypants wants to control from the top but Phoenix keeps moving. Phoenix wants to stand and escape but Scrappypants is having none of it. Phoenix utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Phoenix keeping moving, preventing Scrappypants from controlling successfully. Scrappypants loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Scrappypants missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Phoenix avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Horrible takedown by Scrappypants or perhaps it was just good defense by Phoenix which made him look bad. Phoenix swinging wilding here.

Scrappypants clinches but Phoenix breaks the clinch and Phoenix counters with a left and a right that stings Scrappypants. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Phoenix clinches up with Scrappypants and pushes him back against the cage. Scrappypants escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That was a close round but I would say that Merlin Phoenix will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Merlin Phoenix's cut. That's time! Phoenix's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Scrappypants takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Merlin Phoenix is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Phoenix looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Scrappypants fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Phoenix drives through and clinches with Scrappypants against the cage.

Scrappypants missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Scrappypants lands a nice short elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Scrappypants lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Scrappypants trying to control from half guard but Phoenix is working away. Scrappypants takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Scrappypants scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Phoenix is trying to stand.

Scrappypants misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
BOOM! Scrappypants connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Gambino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Tupp feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tupp content to stall in guard here. Gambino can't keep his opponent in guard - Tupp advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Tupp working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Gambino on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Tupp is figuring out what he wants to do next. I looks like Tupp might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tupp lands a nice short elbow.

He's worked his way up against the cage but Tupp has just dragged him back down to the mat. Tupp cracks Gambino with a big right hand but Gambino just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Drulog looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Lovelace shoots in for a double leg but Drulog sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lovelace tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lovelace closes this distance looking for a takedown but Drulog circles away. Lovelace is looking to clinch but Drulog is avoiding it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lovelace looks like he's thinking about clinching though. No luck for Lovelace with that takedown attempt. Lovelace gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Drulog advances to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Drulog has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Lovelace can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drulog avoids the attempt from Lovelace to control. Drulog thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drulog controlling from the full mount. Drulog wants to finish this one by submission but Lovelace is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Drulog. Drulog looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Drulog prevents Lovelace from getting the reversal. Drulog swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Phonics, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
