Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bill Mertof (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dick in a Box kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Anderson Rua struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Anderson Rua will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mertof throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rua. Rua looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Mertof lands with a kick to the temple. Rua shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Anderson Rua has been cut. Mertof moves into range and clinches up with Rua. Rua wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mertof is stalling here.
Rua wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mertof has him pressed against the cage. Rua wants to get back to striking at distance but Mertof won't allow it.
The is referee keeping an eye on Mertof - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Anderson Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mertof throws a sloppy head kick and Rua moves out of range easily. Mertof misses with a body kick. Rua cracks a nice hook into Mertof's ribs. Rua fails with the takedown so Mertof counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.
Mertof pulls Rua in close to prevent any damage. Rua must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mertof kicks Rua off and gets to his feet. Rua darts in trying to clinch so Mertof counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mertof trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mertof slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mertof has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Rua keeping moving, preventing Mertof from controlling successfully. Mertof stands and throws Rua's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mertof controls the position from side control. Mertof wants to control but Rua is keeping him busy. Mertof decides to stand back up. Mertof steps back and let's Rua get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mertof shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rua tries for a takedown but Mertof circles away easily and Mertof counters by clinching up. Mertof is looking to break free of the clinch but Rua has double underhooks. Rua has Mertof pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mertof manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mertof manages to break the clinch.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rua for as long as he can get away with. This has been an exciting period of action! Mertof has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rua! Mertof is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rua can do to turn this around? Mertof takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Rua wants to stand but Mertof is controlling the position. Mertof forces his way into half guard. Rua moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mertof not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Mertof postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua wants to sweep here but Mertof controlling him for the moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Rua is looking to stand back up but Mertof counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Rua. Mertof takes a little break here. Rua wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Mertof stands up and beckons Rua to his feet. Mertof misses the jab. Rua moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Mertof doesn't manage to clinch there - Rua circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua fails in his attempt to clinch. Mertof throws a right hand that Rua ducks under and follows up with a left that Rua also avoids with ease. Mertof throws the kick towards the body but Rua avoids it. Rua throws a nice looking combination but Mertof bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mertof throws a sloppy head kick and Rua counters with a straight right hand. Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Mertof counters with a nice double leg into guard. Mertof wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving. Mertof trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mertof stays in close to Rua's body and controls the position. Mertof trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mertof stopping the sweep attempt from Rua. Mertof stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mertof stands and steps away. Rua gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Rua avoids a kick to the body.
Mertof closes the distance and clinches. Mertof avoiding damage as Rua throws knees to the body.

Mertof might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rua can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mertof controls the pace. Mertof is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Anderson Rua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick lands from Hell. A slapping leg kick lands for Hell.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hell, as that shot connected.
Hell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shemhamforash moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A big right from Hell misses. Hell does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Shemhamforash shoots for a takedown but Hell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Shemhamforash closes the distance and clinches up with Hell, looking for a takedown. Shemhamforash pushes Hell against the cage but Hell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shemhamforash misses with a takedown attempt - Hell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Van Hell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Severice Shemhamforash. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hell lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shemhamforash has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shemhamforash and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Shemhamforash on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. It's a brutal combination of punches from Hell! Shemhamforash is backing up but he can't get away as Hell lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Shemhamforash and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Kerrigan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abaddon shoots in for a takedown but Bloodfist shows good takedown defense. Bloodfist feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bloodfist trying to control but Abaddon is working from the bottom. Abaddon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Voresch shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salcedo but Salcedo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Voresch closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salcedo circles away. Voresch shoots in and drives through. Salcedo sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vladimire Voresch. That's going to take a lot out of him. Salcedo throws a leg kick which misses Voresch's front leg but catches the back leg as Voresch tries to avoid it. Nice takedown defense from Salcedo. No joy for Voresch on that attempt. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bloodfist moves in looking to clinch but Aznavorian pushes him off. The fight stays on the outside here - Bloodfist looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Aznavorian throws a hook but Bloodfist blocks it. The fight moves into the clinch position. Bloodfist gets underhooks to prevent Aznavorian's takedown attempt.
Aznavorian has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bloodfist uses from the top position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aznavorian is on top in guard.
Aznavorian throws a big right hand that misses. Bloodfist is breathing heavily. Aznavorian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bloodfist swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bloodfist really is a fat lump. Aznavorian is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Bloodfist might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aznavorian postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Aznavorian pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aznavorian drops Bloodfist with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Bloodfist! Aznavorian dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hussein scores a takedown into full mount! Draxx is trying to stand but he's just given Hussein his back. Hussein throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Draxx tries to roll but Hussein sticks to his back.
Hussein is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Draxx knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Draxx for a finish. Hussein missing with strikes from the back. Draxx trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Draxx is really stuck here.
Draxx looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Draxx is trying to get back to his feet but Hussein has full control of the position and if anything, Draxx has just worked his way into a worse spot. Hussein has his arm under Draxx's chin here. Game over son! Hussein squeezes tightly and Draxx is forced to tap out!
