The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ojala wants to clinch. Gardens fails with a takedown attempt. Gardens darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Gardens is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Ojala has managed to free his arm - good work. Gardens seems to be looking for submissions.
Gardens works his way into full mount! Gardens is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Ojala is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Ojala flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Gardens anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Ojala and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Gardens slips an arm under Ojala chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Gardens has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Gardens is squeezing on Ojala like an anaconda would it's prey. Ojala fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McMasters throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Taylor wants to clinch up but McMasters keeps it at a distance. Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. McMasters misses with a straight left. Taylor takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. McMasters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Taylor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McMasters.
A head kick from McMasters lands but Taylor takes it in his stride. Taylor wants to clinch. McMasters misses with a few strikes there.
Taylor fails with an attempt to clinch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Taylor.
McMasters works over Taylor's head and body with a nice combination. Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch up but McMasters swats him away and circles back towards the center. McMasters has closed the distance and engaged Taylor in a clinch.
McMasters lands a nice uppercut. McMasters can't break the clinch.
Taylor is trying to break the clinch but McMasters has him pressed against the cage. McMasters is trying to break the clinch but Taylor has him pressed against the cage. Taylor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Taylor looks to clinch and McMasters counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Taylor closes the distance looking to clinch and McMasters counters with a straight right hand.

McMasters is breathing heavily. McMasters circles away from the clinch attempt and McMasters counters with a nice double leg into guard. Taylor looking to hit a scissor sweep but McMasters is one step ahead there. Taylor has his feet on McMasters's thighs here. He's pushed McMasters off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! McMasters screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bobles shoots in but no luck this time. Bobles dodges the punch combination from Gunn.

Bobles has a takedown stuffed. Nice defenses there by Bobles. Gunn throws a jab when Bobles was well out of range. Excellent takedown into side control there by Bobles. Gunn struggling a bit here. Bobles tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Bobles looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Bobles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bobles advances nicely into full mount. Bobles is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gunn can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Bobles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bobles is breathing heavily. Gunn tries to lock up and control but Bobles gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gunn is in all sorts of trouble here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gunn tries to hold on but Bobles postures up. Bobles swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gunn is now in Bobles's guard. A big mistake from Bobles there, giving up the dominant position! Bobles working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gunn has passed into half guard!
Gunn is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bobles is staying active underneath Gunn, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bobles moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Bobles looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Oberream. Oberream throws a head kick but Souza moves out of range.
Souza moves into the clinch. Oberream blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Souza has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Oberream is trying to keep an underhook but Souza manages to get the takedown into half guard. Oberream could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Oberream tries to roll over but Souza keeps him under control. Oberream on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Oberream tries to get out of the position. Souza winds up and cracks Oberream with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Oberream missing with punches from the bottom.

Oberream shoots in but no luck this time. Oberream is breathing heavily. A head kick misses from Oberream. Souza keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Oberream shoots in and drives through. Souza sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alistar Oberream. That's going to take a lot out of him. Souza gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Oberream drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Souza gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Oberream distracts Souza with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Oberream's guard. Oberream throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Oberream closes the distance looking to clinch and Souza counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Oberream changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Souza fights it off and pushes away nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Paolo Souza will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Oberream has hold of Souza's hands but Souza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Souza lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Souza lands strikes from half guard.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Oberream is looking to escape. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Oberream scoring with strikes to the body and head. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Oberream lands a nice short elbow. Oberream decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Souza sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. A nice inside leg kick there by Oberream. That's going to slow Souza down. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Souza fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Oberream changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Souza looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Souza is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Souza looks like he's trying to stand up.

Segel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Penn is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Segel pulls his head out easily. Segel frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Segel unloading with bombs! Penn is desperately trying to improve his position but Segel has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Segel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Penn is looking to escape.

Penn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Segel fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Penn connects with a high kick. Penn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Segel swats him away and circles back towards the center. Horrible takedown by Segel or perhaps it was just good defense by Penn which made him look bad. Penn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Penn stands and steps away. Segel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Segel with a lazy takedown attempt and Penn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Segel won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Penn wants to control but Segel is keeping him busy. Penn tries to advance to mount but Segel denies him. Segel regains half guard. Penn wants to stand but Segel has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Segel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Penn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Penn's back! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Segel is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
