The fighters are battling for position here. Sherk manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sherk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Sherk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith shoots in but Bobbet avoids the takedown attempt easily. Bobbet connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Smith tumbling to the canvas! Bobbet pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Smith was done - good stoppage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velcic moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Diaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Diaz looks up at the clock and then as Velcic takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Diaz smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Velcic is trying to get back to half guard. Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Velcic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Velcic tries to get back to half guard but can't. Diaz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Velcic down.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Diaz. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Velcic manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Velcic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Velcic looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Clay Diaz dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Velcic is looking to take this fight into the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Velcic looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Velcic tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Velcic tries to clinch but Diaz is having none of it. Diaz clinches up against the cage. Diaz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Velcic throws a hook but Diaz blocks it. Nice defenses there by Diaz. Diaz with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

and Diaz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Velcic! Velcic keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Velcic is rocked! Diaz looking to finish Velcic with some ground and pound. This is bad for Velcic! Velcic is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him? Diaz drops a big elbow. That's hurt Velcic! More shots from Diaz and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jansen's guard. Lonkar has gone for a leg lock! Lonkar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jansen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jansen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lonkar . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lonkar circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lonkar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A good leg kick by Jansen. Lonkar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jansen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sloppy strikes there by Lonkar . Lonkar working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Lonkar has knee on belly and moves into mount. Lonkar with shots to the head and body - Jansen looks very uncomfortable down there. Jansen holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lonkar tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nathan James was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vlad looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Vlad. Vlad misses with a double jab.
Vlad throws a half hearted mid kick. James pulls out of a head kick attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A head kick by Vlad misses and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. James shoots in but Vlad avoids the takedown attempt easily. Vlad with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mocny Vlad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vlad lands a nice hook to James's body. James takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Vlad swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and James counters with a single leg into guard. Vlad didn't expect that. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Vlad is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James wants to control from the top but Vlad keeps moving. Vlad wants to stand but James is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. James scores with a push kick. Vlad punishes James's body with a nice straight punch. Vlad just misses with a punch to the body.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vlad.

Vlad rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. James avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Vlad is looking to wear down James with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The fight stays on the outside here - James looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Vlad looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. James misses with a hook to the body
and Vlad counters with a right hand to the body. Nice body kick there by Vlad. Vlad misses with an uppercut
and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Vlad is lucky that one didn't land flush. Vlad rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Vlad attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Good leg kick by Vlad there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. James scores with a takedown into Vlad's guard. James gets to his feet. Vlad looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! James tries for a takedown but Vlad sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mocny Vlad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan James. James blocks a head kick by Vlad.
Vlad wants to land a leg kick but James is out of range. James looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vlad throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and James decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vlad's guard. James prevents Vlad from getting back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vlad is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mocny Vlad will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

James has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from James there as he acknowledges the shot. Vlad lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Vlad throws a head kick that misses. A head kick misses from Vlad. Vlad knocks James to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
James is rocked! Vlad decides to stand back up. Vlad steps back and let's James get back to his feet. James is still on wobbly legs! Can Vlad finish him? James bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Vlad comes at him with an uppercut from hell! James falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! James was out before he hit the floor!
