And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anssi Randi!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Down has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Down there as he acknowledges the shot.

Down gets a takedown into half guard.
Randi is looking to escape.
Randi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Down passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Randi!
Down is landing with some decent strikes but Randi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Down postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Randi looks a forlorn figure.
Randi is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Down cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Down lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Randi hang on?
Down cracks Randi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Randi is desperately trying to improve his position but Down has a good base and remains in mount.

Randi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Down is breathing heavily.

Down is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Down can't keep his opponent in guard - Randi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Down on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Down is pressing down on Randi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Down is striking from the bottom but Randi uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Down manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Down will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Randi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Down is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Down wants to sweep here but Randi controlling him for the moment.
Randi wants to control from the top but Down keeps moving.
Down lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Randi!
Randi trying desperately to get to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Down lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Down dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Randi throws a shot to the body.
Down smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Down shoots in for a takedown but Randi shows good takedown defense.

Down has managed to clinch.
Down misses with a short punch on the inside.
Randi wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Randi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Down throws a hook but Randi blocks it.
Randi throws a series of strikes that have Down backpedaling.
Randi with a nice cross.
Down looks to land a combination but Randi avoids it well.
Down with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Randi to score with a decent uppercut.

Down is rocked!
Randi dances in with a quick combination. Down is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Randi snaps Down's head back. Down stumbles backwards against the cage. Randi steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Down's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Down just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Anssi Randi!
