The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bad closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bad lands in his opponent's guard.

Tuominen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bad is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tuominen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bad's back instead.
Bad tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Purustaja misses.
McGuy tries to clinch but Purustaja is having none of it.
Purustaja rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McGuy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McGuy wants to clinch up but Purustaja keeps it at a distance.

McGuy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Purustaja to the mat! Purustaja manages to get full guard.
Purustaja is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McGuy forces his way into half guard.
Purustaja is staying active underneath McGuy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
McGuy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Purustaja flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

McGuy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McGuy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Purustaja accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Purustaja wanted to stand there but McGuy had control of the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

McGuy wants to stand and escape but Purustaja is having none of it.
McGuy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

McGuy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Purustaja postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McGuy manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Purustaja manages to get himself to full guard.

Purustaja pushes McGuy off and scrambles back to his feet.

and McGuy counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

McGuy tries to clinch there but Purustaja circles away.

Purustaja will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Purustaja swats away the attempt to clinch by McGuy.

McGuy has Purustaja up against the cage in a clinch.
McGuy has a couple of punches blocked by Purustaja.
McGuy tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McGuy swings wildly with an uppercut but Purustaja uses good head movement to avoid it.
McGuy goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McGuy misses with a short punch on the inside.
Purustaja is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason McGuy dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McGuy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Purustaja's waist but Purustaja gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McGuy off to one side.
McGuy moves in looking to clinch but Purustaja pushes him off.

McGuy closes the distance and clinches.
The is referee keeping an eye on McGuy - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
McGuy lands a shot to the body.
McGuy stalling in the clinch but Purustaja improves position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Purustaja is pressed up against the cage. McGuy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Purustaja down to the mat. Purustaja avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McGuy throws a sloppy head kick and Purustaja moves out of range easily.
Purustaja throws a right and a left that McGuy avoids nicely.
Purustaja misses with a double jab
and McGuy counters with a right hand to the body.
McGuy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vootele Purustaja has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason McGuy.

McGuy seems to have recovered his senses.
McGuy works his foot free and advances to mount.

McGuy is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Purustaja can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
