Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Macadam Baird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Novak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kris Novak was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Macadam Baird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kris Novak!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novak fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Baird looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Novak avoids the head kick by Baird.
Baird misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No joy there for Novak, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Novak scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baird wants to control but Novak is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Novak is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Baird doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Novak.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Novak is nestled in close to Baird, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Baird takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Novak decides to stand up, so the ref orders Baird to his feet.
Novak shoots in for a double leg but Baird sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Novak tries to clinch up but Baird circles away and keeps his distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
No luck for Novak with that takedown attempt.
A slapping leg kick lands for Novak.
Baird throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Novak.

Baird has had enough of the clinch but Novak keeps him there for the moment.

Novak throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Baird's waist but Baird gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Novak off to one side.

and Novak decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Baird's guard.
Baird might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Novak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Baird escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Novak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Novak stands and throws Baird's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Novak takes a little break here. Baird wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Novak decides to stand back up.
Novak clinches but Baird breaks the clinch
and Baird counters with a series of strikes. Novak will be more careful next time no doubt.

Baird tries to keep at a distance but Novak has taken the fight into the clinch.
Novak drops down looking for an ankle pick but Baird pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Novak swats away the attempt to clinch by Baird.

and Novak counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Novak.
Baird connects with a knee to the head.
Baird throws an elbow but it misses.
with the fighters clinched against the cage, Novak creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Novak shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baird pinned against the cage. Baird gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kris Novak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Novak throws a front kick that sends Baird stumbling back into the cage.
Baird keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Novak bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Novak shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Baird counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Baird wants to clinch

and Novak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Novak drags the fight down to the ground.
Novak bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Baird's guard.
Novak advances to half guard.
Baird is trying to stand.
Novak working over Baird with some ground and pound. Baird looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Novak is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Baird tries to kick Novak off but Novak keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Novak decides to stand up.

Baird shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Baird showed some decent athleticism there.

Novak pushes Baird off and gets back to his feet.
Novak misses with a combination

and Baird counters by moving into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baird tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Novak breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Novak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baird but Baird pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Macadam Baird has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kris Novak.
Novak tries to clinch but Baird moves out of range.
Novak misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Novak looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Novak stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Baird.

Novak instigates a clinch.
Baird with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Baird throws an elbow but it misses.

Novak turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Baird tries to buck Novak off but Novak is having none of it.
Baird on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Baird is pushing Novak's head away, looking to escape. Novak manages to hold on to the position though.

Novak wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baird, who protects the arm well.
Macadam Baird has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Baird sneaks out the side door and pushes Novak away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kris Novak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Novak has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
