The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ballser will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ballser. Martinez clinches. Ballser stalling in the clinch but Martinez improves position. Martinez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Martinez gets underhooks to prevent Ballser's takedown attempt.

Martinez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ballser can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ballser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martinez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Martinez jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ballser manages to avoid the submission attempt. Martinez tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Horrible takedown by Ballser or perhaps it was just good defense by Martinez which made him look bad. Ballser throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martinez's waist but Martinez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ballser off to one side. Martinez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ballser checks a low kick from Martinez. Martinez misses with a takedown attempt - Ballser sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Martinez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Ballser tries to clinch but fails miserably and Martinez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Martinez lands a couple of elbows. Martinez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Ballser rushes Martinez and presses him up against the cage. Ballser tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Martinez smiles and moves away.

Martinez passes Ballser's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Martinez slips a nice elbow through Ballser's hands, connecting with Ballser's forehead. Martinez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Martinez is tying to control. Ballser wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Martinez prevents Ballser from improving his position. Ballser is staying active underneath Martinez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Ballser closes the distance looking to clinch and Martinez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Martinez. This has been an exciting period of action! Ballser looking for a sweep. Not yet Ballser, not yet. Ballser looking for a guillotine here but Martinez defends easily.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lupaus is looking to clinch. Lupaus stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Troop shoots for a takedown but Lupaus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Troop shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lupaus is trying to stand up here but Troop is controlling him well. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Troop working over Lupaus with some ground and pound. Lupaus looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lupaus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Troop is working away from the top position though. Troop has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lupaus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lupaus wants to control but Troop is keeping busy and won't allow it. Troop thows a huge punch but Lupaus dodges it nicely.
Troop seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lupaus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Troop stops Lupaus from getting back to his feet.

Troop tries to close the distance and clinch but Lupaus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Troop could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Troop closes the distance looking to clinch and Lupaus counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Troop falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A chopping leg kick lands by Halaus. McDoogle looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Halaus lands a head kick. McDoogle smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
McDoogle is rocked! Halaus has closed the distance and engaged McDoogle in a clinch.
Halaus lands an elbow inside. McDoogle is still on wobbly legs! Can Halaus finish him? Halaus scores with a hook to the body. McDoogle seems to have recovered his senses. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Halaus with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

and Halaus counters with a single leg into guard. McDoogle didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Halaus stopping the sweep attempt from McDoogle.

Halaus passes McDoogle's left leg - he's now in half guard. Halaus passes to side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Halaus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McDoogle, who protects the arm well.
