The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machida rushes Freeman and presses him up against the ropes. Freeman throws an elbow that misses.
Freeman looking to slow down the pace here. Freeman looks to throw an elbow but misses. Machida with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Machida goes for a takedown in the clinch but Freeman prevents it.

Freeman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Freeman looks gassed! Freeman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Machida is keeping the position for now.

Freeman content to stall in guard here. Freeman wants to control from the top but Machida keeps moving. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Freeman's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Freeman trying to control but Machida is working from the bottom. Freeman won't allow Machida to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Machida shoots in but Freeman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Machida lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Freeman backs up against the ropes.

Freeman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Machida has him pressed against the ropes. Machida lands a nice knee to the body. Machida scores with a hook to the body. Machida tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Freeman smiles and moves away.

Freeman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Machida closes this distance looking for a takedown but Freeman circles away. Freeman darts in trying to clinch and Machida counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Machida is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Machida wants to take a breather but Freeman is having none of it. Machida moves nicely into side control. Machida wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freeman keeps working. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Machida changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Freeman tries to avoid it but Machida manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Freeman to the ground. Freeman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Freeman avoids a punch combination nicely.

Freeman bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Freeman gets a clinch. Freeman throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Freeman has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Machida's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gunn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Gracie prevents Gunn from improving position. Gracie manages to get back to half guard. Gunn is working for a submission of some sort.

Gunn has hold of Gracie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gracie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gunn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gunn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gunn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground. Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gracie has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gunn should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gracie has tightened it up now! Gunn should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Benoit is working away from the top position though. Benoit wants to free his trapped foot but Nakahara is holding on for dear life with his legs. Nakahara looking for submissions off his back. Benoit is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nakahara decides to stand and escape the position. Benoit just misses with a punch to the body.

Benoit is looking to control Nakahara's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Benoit avoid being mounted? Benoit is controlling Nakahara's position as best he can from this difficult position. Benoit is looking for a sweep. Nakahara is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chestnar swats away the attempt to clinch by Shepard. Shepard avoids the body shot from Chestnar.
Chestnar throws a series of punches but Shepard avoids them all with ease. Shepard dips to his left and cracks Chestnar with an uppercut! Shepard looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Shepard slips a jab and a cross from Chestnar.
Shepard tries to clinch but Chestnar is having none of it. Shepard is looking to clinch but Chestnar is avoiding it.
Chestnar pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Chestnar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

It looks like Cock Chestnar has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Chestnar dodges the punch combination from Shepard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Mendez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mendez asserts his dominance and retains side control. Mendez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working. Mendez working the ground and pound but Silva is defending the strikes. Silva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Silva tries to get out of the position. Silva is looking for a sweep. Silva wants to get back to his feet. Mendez wants to stand but Silva has his arm trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well. Silva is looking for a sweep. Silva is working hard here to advance position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Silva working for a submission but Mendez is keeping him at bay. Silva landing strikes from the mount and Mendez is in trouble!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva fails to take his opponent's back. Mendez tries to control Silva's body but Silva pushes him off. Mendez squirms to his side and now Silva has his back! Mendez is keeping busy.
Silva is punishing Mendez with strikes - can he finish him?! Silva is trying to stick to Mendez's back but Mendez is turning into Silva. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Silva's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mendez. Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mendez is one step ahead there. Silva tries to strike from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Silva looking for a guillotine here but Mendez defends easily.
Silva is breathing heavily. Mendez preventing the sweep.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Silva pushes Mendez up against the ropes in a clinch. Mendez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mendez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Silva fails in his attempt to clinch. Silva throws out a loose jab but Mendez uses good head movement to avoid it. Mendez misses with a takedown and Silva counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mendez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mendez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mendez isn't going anywhere. Mendez is not content to let Silva control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rampage Silva dominated that round. That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Silva lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Mendez misses with a takedown attempt enabling Silva to counter with a crisp jab. Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendez tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendez to the ground. Mendez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silva misses with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground. Mendez is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Mendez tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg. Mendez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Johnson looking to control but Owens is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Johnson looking to control and managing it successfully. Owens is looking to get to half guard. Johnson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Owens has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Owens! That was a close round but I would say that Whiskey Johnson will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Johnson looks for a takedown but Owens sprawls well. The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Whiskey Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A chopping leg kick lands by Owens. Owens tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Owens looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Owens persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing. Owens misses with a takedown and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Owens fights it but they end up in guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Owens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson controlling the position easily from mount. Johnson landing strikes from the mount. Johnson prevents Owens from getting the reversal. Johnson is standing up, even though he is in mount. Johnson takes one to the chin there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Owens scores a takedown into full mount! Owens tries to control but Johnson wriggling away. Johnson tries to hold on but Owens postures up. Owens putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Johnson tries to reverse the position but Owens maintains control. Johnson wants to hold on but Owens pushes him away. Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

"I don't think so" says Brodan as he avoids it easily. Abro Brodan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nomid Nair. Nair looks gassed! Nair takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Brodan drops Nair with a left and a right! Oh, Nair is hurt - Brodan dives into side control looking to finish!

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenny Penn! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn tries to clinch but Lovett moves out of range. Penn scores with a head kick.
Lovett is looking to clinch. Lovett tries to bum rush Penn with a series of wild strikes but Penn uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Penn tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Lovett tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Lovett manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lovett misses with the combination.
Lovett rushes Penn and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Lovett stalling.
Penn is trying to maintain a safe position but Lovett gets an underhook and turns Penn into the ropes. Lovett turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lovett manages to end up in side control. Lovett is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Penn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Penn is not content to let Lovett control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lovett landing strikes. Penn is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lovett tries for a kimura but Penn is defending well. Lovett connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Penn some visible discomfort.
Penn looks gassed! Penn takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lovett prevents Penn from escaping the position. Penn is being controlled here. Check out the look on Lovett's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Lovett trying to control the action but Penn is working from the bottom. Lovett grinds an elbow into Penn's temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lovett wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy. Penn is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lovett connects with a decent elbow. Lovett landing strikes. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Penn is looking to reverse the position. Lovett lands a decent elbow from side control. Penn is looking to regain half guard here but Lovett keeps moving and retains side control. Lovett thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. You can see the frustration on Penn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Penn is looking for a sweep. Lovett working the ground and pound from side control. Penn taking punishment in the form of punches.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lovett darts in and clinches Penn up against the ropes. Lovett gets underhooks to prevent Penn's takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lovett pushes Penn back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head. Penn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lovett sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Penn defending well though. Lovett lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Lovett is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Lovett prevents Penn from improving his position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lovett throwing strikes from guard but Penn blocks nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Penn has his takedown stuffed and Lovett counters by clinching up. Penn wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lovett throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Penns head. Penn tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lovett just stands there and leans against the ropes. Penn prevents Lovett from breaking the clinch. Penn keeps control of Lovett as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Lovett is pressed up against the ropes. Penn has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lovett down to the mat. Lovett avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Eric Lovett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Penn. Decent striking displayed by Lovett there. Penn cracks the inside of Lovett's front leg. Lovett fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Penn, pushing him back against the ropes. Penn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Penn tightens his grip and picks Lovett up, before dumping him to the ground. Lovett manages to land in guard. Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Lovett slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Lovett distracts Penn with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Penn with a poor takedown and Lovett counters with a series of strikes. Penn will be more careful next time no doubt. Lovett throws a right hand that Penn ducks under and follows up with a left that Penn also avoids with ease. No joy there for Lovett, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Penn is looking to clinch but Lovett is avoiding it.
Lovett staying out of range there. Lovett lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Lovett closes the distance and clinches. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Lovett lands with a short shot to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn tries to break the clinch but Lovett is controlling the position. A left hand lands to the body for Lovett.
Penn jumps guard but Lovett stands there with Penn around his waist. Penn gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lovett is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Penn can't fight it off and eventually Lovett manages to take the fight to the floor. Penn looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lovett is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Penn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lovett's back instead. Lovett showing good submission defense here.
Lovett rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Lovett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Lovett is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Penn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Penn's back! Lovett gets his hands free as Penn looks to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lovett doesn't have the hooks in and Penn manages to turn into his guard.
Penn looking to sit in guard and control but Lovett gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Penn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Lovett trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn trying to control but Lovett is working from the bottom. Lovett controls Penn momentarily but Penn frees himself. Penn wants to control from the top but Lovett keeps moving. Lovett seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Lovett throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Penn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lovett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lovett lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Lovett scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Penn trying to control from the bottom.

Lovett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Lovett wants to pass to mount but Penn is defending the position. Kenny Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Penn tries to get to full guard but Lovett has control of the leg.

A much better position for Tank. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Tank bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fuller's guard. Tank gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Fuller fails with the takedown. Fuller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fuller! Tank manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Fuller moves into full guard.

Tank bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Tank preventing the sweep. Tank trying to control the position from guard on top but Fuller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tank is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Fuller trying to control but Tank is working from the bottom. Tank keeping busy on the bottom but Fuller has passed one foot through into half guard.
