Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Diaz is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mercer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mercer!
Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mercer controls the pace.
Diaz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mercer keeps working.

Diaz escapes and gets back to his feet.
Diaz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It's a brutal combination of punches from Diaz! Mercer is backing up but he can't get away as Diaz lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Mercer and ends the fight. Great knockout.
