The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodman throws a right hand that Ryan ducks under and follows up with a left that Ryan also avoids with ease. Bill Rodman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ryan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ryan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Rodman is rocked! Rodman tries to strike from the bottom.

Rodman is wriggling around but Ryan manages to pass to half guard.
Ryan slips a nice elbow through Rodman's hands, connecting with Rodman's forehead. Ryan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Rodman is still in real trouble! Can Ryan finish him? Rodman is trying to stand.
Ryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rodman pushes Ryan off but Ryan dives into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ryan working the head and body with strikes. Rodman manages to get back to half guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Ryan is nestled in close to Rodman, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Ryan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ryan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rodman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Rodman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ryan looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Rodman wants to get back to his feet.
Ground and pound from Ryan. Rodman is trying to stand up here but Ryan is controlling him well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ryan working Rodman over with strikes. Rodman tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Ryan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rodman wants to get back to his feet. Rodman seems to have recovered his senses.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rodman throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Rodman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rodman misses with a takedown attempt and Ryan counters with a shoot takedown. Rodman fights it but they end up in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ryan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ryan looking to pass the guard. Rodman wants to sweep here but Ryan controlling him for the moment. Ryan chips away with some ground and pound. Rodman wriggles free and stands up. Rodman throws a left and a right that both miss

Ryan lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ryan scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ryan is in close to Rodman's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ryan working some strikes from top position. Rodman wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ryan manages to pass to side control. Ryan scoring with strikes to the body and head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodman tries to kick Ryan off but Ryan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Ryan prevents Rodman from improving his position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ryan chips away with some ground and pound. Ryan postures up and lands a big shot to Rodman's brow. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rodman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ryan manages to get himself to full guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richardson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Richardson gets caught flat footed, as Porter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Richardson is trying to keep Porter in close.
Richardson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Porter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Richardson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Richardson pushes Porter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Richardson misses with a few strikes there.
Left hook, right uppercut from Richardson. Porter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Richardson, pushing him back against the cage. Porter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Richardson smiles and moves away.
Porter takes the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porter lands with a light punch inside. Richardson can't break the clinch.
Porter goes for a takedown in the clinch but Richardson prevents it.

Porter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A right-left combo lands from Richardson.
Porter is rocked! Richardson keeps the fight on the outside. Oh Porter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Richardson is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Porter hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Utah. Utah drives through with a takedown into guard. Utah stands and steps away. Costa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Utah tries to clinch but Costa moves out of range. Utah bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Costa's head backwards. Costa tries for a takedown but Utah circles away easily and Utah counters by clinching up. Utah gets underhooks to prevent Costa's takedown attempt.
Costa has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Utah is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Johnny Utah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Costa. Utah has hold of one of Costa's legs. Costa is fighting the takedown attempt but Utah gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Costa wants to sweep here but Utah controlling him for the moment. Costa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Costa throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hanma. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Hanma misses with a looping right. Hanma looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range. Rip James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanma is looking to land body kicks. James defending well as Hanma loads up on a big left hand.

James fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hanma sprawls well initially but James persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hanma knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground. James works his way into side control. James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanma defending against the ground and pound. James advances to full mount. James raining down shots from the mount!
It looks like Baki Hanma has been cut. James mounts Hanma! Really nice guard pass there! Hanma manages to regain half guard. Good work. James wants to pass to mount but Hanma is defending the position.

A close round but Rip James will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Baki Hanma's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hanma jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hanma misses with a straight left. Hanma is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Hanma's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Hanma works the jab nicely. A solid body kick from Hanma. A choreographed right hand from Hanma misses the target. Hanma scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanma throws a hook but James avoids it easily. Hanma tries to land a front kick but James steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. James slips under a jab from Hanma. Rip James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hanma misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hanma will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hanma lands a jab to James's midsection. Hanma throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it. Baki Hanma is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanma paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. James moves out of range of the strikes.
