Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vitor Rua! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee feints and then cracks Rua's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rua down. Rua throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lee stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rua connects with a crisp jab. Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Lee takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lee tries to land a leg kick but Rua saw it coming and moves away.
Some wild striking there from Lee.
Lee tries to land a front kick but Rua steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Rua changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Rua throws a front kick that sends Lee stumbling back into the ropes. Rua throws a leg kick but Lee sees it coming and moves out of range. Rua tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Lee needs to keep his hands up - Rua had a free shot at his head there. A punch combination from Lee misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease. Lee throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rua counters with a two punch combo. Lee misses with a double jab
and Rua counters with a straight right hand.
Lee is rocked! A jab lands there for Rua. Oh Lee is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Lee throws a series of punches but Rua moves out of range. Lee seems to have got his legs back now. Rua will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rua connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lee momentarily.

Rua drops Lee with a right and a left! Rua comes rushing in but Lee regains his composure and manages to keep Rua in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rua prevents Lee from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Rua trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lee's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Lee keeping moving, preventing Rua from controlling successfully. Rua stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rua misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lee misses with a double jab
and Rua counters with a lovely straight right hand! Rua is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lee. A right-left combo lands from Rua. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rua lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Vitor Rua dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lee drops his hands momentarily and Rua takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rua moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Rua throws a head kick that misses. Rua misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Rua counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Vitor Rua seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rua blocks a head kick by Lee.
Lee lands a nice shot that snaps Rua's head back.

Lee throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Rua. Bruce Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rua connects with a good right hand that stumbles Lee. Lee circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rua scores with a jab to the head.
Rua lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lee backs up against the ropes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Danga de danga de dang - Rua scores with a four punch combination! Rua might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Jab from Lee. Rua's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rua duly obliges. Rua ducks under a wild hook from Lee. Bruce Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rua works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Rua's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rua duly obliges. Lee throws a head kick that misses and Rua counters with a left and a right... And another left! Lee is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Susumu slips a straight right by Compton. Hajime Susumu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Compton throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Compton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Compton misses with a body shot.
Compton's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Compton duly obliges. Susumu throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Susumu lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Susumu punishes Compton's body with a nice straight punch. A head kick misses from Compton. Susumu throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. This has been an exciting period of action! Susumu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Compton misses with a low kick as Susumu jumps back. Susumu just misses with a punch to the body.
Compton takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lazy left from Susumu finds it's target. Compton will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Susumu tries a head kick but it misses.
Susumu bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A big right from Susumu misses. A good leg kick by Susumu. Compton walks forward, straight into a front kick from Susumu. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Susumu misses with a looping right. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Susumu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A nice leg kick lands there from Susumu. Compton throws a right and a left that both miss. Susumu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Susumu moves out of range as Compton strikes. Susumu looks to land a body kick but Compton moved away. Compton missing with a left hand there. Susumu was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Susumu misses with a takedown attempt - Compton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Susumu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Compton's waist but Compton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Susumu off to one side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Susumu. Susumu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Susumu does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Susumu wants to clinch. Compton thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Susumu throws a half hearted mid kick. Some wild striking there from Compton.
Compton throws a leg kick but Susumu sees it coming and moves out of range. Susumu lands with a slapping head kick. Compton blocks a head kick by Susumu.
Susumu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Compton manages to avoid it. A low kick from Susumu misses and Compton counters with a thumping low kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hajime Susumu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Compton misses with an uppercut. Susumu saw that one coming. Susumu throws a body kick that misses. A big left from Susumu misses. Susumu slips a jab and a cross from Compton.
Peter Compton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! No joy there for Compton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Susumu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Compton. Compton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Compton throws an overhand right that lands on Susumu's shoulder, as Susumu tries to avoid the shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Compton. Susumu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Compton misses with a hook. Compton throws a leg kick and Susumu counters with an inside leg kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Susumu tries for a takedown but Compton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Susumu pivots, looking for a leg kick but Compton is out of range and Susumu settles back down. Compton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Susumu can pounce on him.

and Susumu finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Compton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Compton takes one to the chin there. Compton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Susumu tries to clinch but Compton moves away and Compton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Compton misses with a two punch combination.
Susumu just misses with a punch to the body.
Compton misses with a hook. Susumu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Compton gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
And that's the end of the fight! Hajime Susumu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Susumu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Brooks fails in his attempt to clinch. Brooks moves in looking to clinch but Yuudai pushes him off. Brooks sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Yuudai to the ground! Brooks dives into full mount looking to finish!

It looks like Masaru Yuudai has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yuudai is working to get back to half guard.
Yuudai is still in real trouble! Can Brooks finish him? The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Brooks controlling his opponent. Yuudai seems to have recovered his senses. Brooks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yuudai on the ground. Yuudai really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yuudai is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Brooks controlling from the full mount. Brooks punishing his opponent with strikes. Yuudai is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Yuudai tries to get back to half guard but can't. Brooks unloads with some shots from mount but Yuudai bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Brooks content just to control the position here. Brooks lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Yuudai tries to reverse the position but Brooks maintains control. Brooks controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Brooks pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Brooks controlling the position easily from mount. Brooks cracks Yuudai with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Brooks content just to control the position here. Yuudai bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Brooks is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Brooks on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brooks tries to get out of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yuudai stands and throws Brooks's legs to the side, diving into side control. Yuudai looks gassed! Brooks gets back to half guard. Brooks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Brooks wants to control but Yuudai is keeping busy and won't allow it. Yuudai has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Brooks tries to hold on but Yuudai postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brooks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yuudai can do to turn this around? Brooks controlling his opponent. Noshikawa throws a nice looking combination but Kurosagi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Noshikawa throws a jab but it's blocked by Kurosagi. Kurosagi dodges the punch combination from Noshikawa.
Noshikawa darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Noshikawa thows a left - swing and a miss! Yuki Noshikawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kurosagi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kurosagi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masato Takaya! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takaya avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Takaya connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Takaya fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Takaya drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Takaya is rocked! Takaya feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Nagano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Nagano had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Takaya is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nagano Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Takaya's back instead. Takaya has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Takaya trying to control the hands but Nagano won't let him. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Some bone on bone action there as Takaya checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Nagano throws a head kick but Takaya moves out of range.

Nagano tries for a takedown but Takaya circles away easily letting Takaya counter with a right hand. No joy there for Takaya, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nagano nods at Takaya to acknowledge the strikes. Takaya swings for the body but Nagano moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nagano catches Takaya with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Takaya will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nagano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Takaya swats him away and circles back towards the center. Takaya fails with the takedown. Nagano connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Takaya momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Takaya stuffs the takedown attempt from Nagano. Nagano gets slowly back to his feet. Nagano checks a leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stack shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rua controls Stack momentarily but Stack frees himself. Rua had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stack is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rua Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stack's back instead. Stack tries to roll but Rua sticks to his back.

Rua is trying to control the action in half guard but Stack is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Rua trying to mount his opponent but Stack defends it. Stack controlling the position for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Stack has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rua is working away from the top position though. Stack is not content to let Rua control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Wanderlei Rua will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Stack which made him look bad. Stack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Rua paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rua fails with an attempt to clinch.

Rua has his foot on Stack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stack works his way back into a safe position though. Rua is breathing heavily. Stack trying to control but Rua is working from the bottom. Rua looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dan Stack will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Stack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Stack is looking to stall here but Rua recovers full guard. Rua is staying active underneath Stack, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Stack is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Stack looking to pass the guard. Rua wants to control the position but Stack says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Rua is looking for a sweep. Stack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rua is pressing down on Stack's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stack accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Stack missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rua throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
