2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, david tho! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Hernian. Hernian will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. tho tries to bench press Hernian off him but Hernian keeps the position. tho wants to control but Hernian postures up. tho is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Hernian wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by tho, who protects the arm well. Hernian working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hernian is breathing heavily. Hernian swings around for an armbar but tho sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hernian's guard. tho lands a couple of digs. Hernian is looking for a triangle here but tho uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

david tho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hernian connects with a nice short shot to tho's temple. Good work. tho stands up out of the half guard. david tho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. tho with a poor takedown so Hernian counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hernian drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and tho dives on top into guard. tho landing some decent shots from guard.

Hernian Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take tho's back instead. tho looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Hernian looking for the choke from the back. Hernian is looking for the choke from the back position but tho is controlling his hands well. tho is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight! Berny Hernian showed his dominance in that final round. Well tho has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mudd looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jung passes into side control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kusanagi really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Saukko's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Even with his hooks in, Saukko manages to miss with strikes from the back. Saukko somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Saukko throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. A lull in the action here.
Kusanagi avoids the strikes from Saukko. Saukko is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Saukko gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Saukko gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Saukko apologises and we restart here on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kusanagi is looking to clinch but Saukko is avoiding it.

Hanma tries to bum rush saghon with a series of wild strikes but saghon uses good footwork to avoid the assault. saghon tries to close the distance and clinch but Hanma swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hanma throws a right hand that saghon ducks under and follows up with a left that saghon also avoids with ease. saghon tries to clinch but Hanma moves out of range. saghon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. saghon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
