The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lamont has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Vatali finds it's way round the side to connect with Lamont's head.
Vatali scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Vatali staying out of range there.
Lamont could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vatali bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Vatali drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Vatali trying to control the position from guard on top but Lamont is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vatali stands and throws Lamont's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Vatali is working Lamont over with some ground and pound from side control.
Vatali tries for a kimura but Lamont is defending well.
Lamont knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vatali on the ground.
Vatali lands an elbow.
Vatali is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lamont has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vatali has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vatali lands a strong strike to the head of Lamont. That's dazed him! Vatali looking to finish here. Lamont is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Vatali lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
