0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Huge Wang! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wang blocks a leg kick. Wang will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kurt shoots in for a takedown but Wang shows good takedown defense. Wang rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurt moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Wang clinches. Wang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nice takedown defense from Wang. No joy for Kurt on that attempt. Wang lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Josh Kurt has been cut. Kurt is breathing heavily. Kurt circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wang keeps the fight on the outside. Wang misses with a looping right. Wang feints and as Kurt raises his hands in defense, Wang changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Some bone on bone action there as Kurt checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Kurt fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kurt throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wang counters by clinching up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Kurt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wang works over Kurt with some ground and pound from guard. Wang looking to sit in guard and control but Kurt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Wang throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Nice hip positioning from Kurt.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wang can do anything to dispel that myth. Kurt postures up.

and Kurt connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Josh Kurt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Huge Wang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wang moves out of range as Kurt strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Huge Wang. Well Wang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Taiki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gut tries to bum rush Taiki with a series of wild strikes but Taiki uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Taiki punishes Gut's body with a nice straight punch. Taiki tries to clinch up but Gut circles away and keeps his distance. Gut misses with a hook. Taiki clinches. Taiki unloads a knee to the mid-section. Gut lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Taiki with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
It looks like ihave Gut has been cut. Gut looks gassed! Taiki is pressed up against the cage. Gut has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Taiki down to the mat. Taiki avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Taiki closes the distance and clinches. This has been an exciting period of action! Gut takes a knee right on the jaw!

Taiki has cage pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Gut is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Taiki - that's hurt Gut badly! Oh, another knee lands and Gut is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Gut doesn't seem to be complaining.

Rubberboot closes the distance but Laurent moves to the side and Laurent cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Laurent clobbers Rubberboot with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rubberboot uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Laurent. Rubberboot shoots and misses and Laurent counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rubberboot has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Rubberboot shoots in for a takedown but Laurent shows good takedown defense. Laurent closes the distance and clinches. Laurent breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Laurent misses with a series of wild punches.
Laurent takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Left hook, right uppercut from Laurent. Rubberboot closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Laurent to the mat! Laurent manages to get full guard. Rubberboot controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Buckley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Buckley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haze.
