The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lappalainen misses with a wild body shot. Jordan tries to clinch there but Lappalainen circles away.
Lappalainen tries for a takedown but Jordan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jordan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lappalainen. Jordan pushes Lappalainen up against the cage in a clinch. Jordan with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Lappalainen lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Jordan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lappalainen misses with an uppercut. Lappalainen moves in looking to clinch but Jordan pushes him off. Lappalainen takes the fight into the clinch. Jordan stalling.

Lappalainen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jordan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lappalainen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jordan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lappalainen is one step ahead there. Jordan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lappalainen. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lappalainen forces his way into half guard. Lappalainen prevents Jordan from standing back up.

Aslak Lappalainen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jordan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Lappalainen is tightening it up a little... Jordan has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jordan reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jordan taps out! nice BJJ there by Lappalainen!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emperlianenko misses with a hook. Emperlianenko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! You can see the frustration on Ostermalm's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Emperlianenko working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Ostermalm shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Emperlianenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ostermalm working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Emperlianenko. Fedor Emperlianenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Emperlianenko wants to pass the guard but Ostermalm is keeping the position. Ostermalm is looking to sinch up a triangle. Emperlianenko throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ostermalm's body to avoid the submission. Ostermalm has instead reached around Emperlianenko's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ostermalm arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nicoli Maximus! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maximus throws a right and a left that Bornemann avoids nicely. Maximus drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Maximus stands up from Bornemann 's guard - Maximus perhaps looking for a knockout. Maximus shoots in but Bornemann avoids the takedown attempt easily. Maximus looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Maximus not landing any meaningful shots this time. Maximus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bornemann keeps working. Maximus prevents Bornemann from improving his position. Maximus wants to stand up but Bornemann has a hold of him and won't allow it. Bornemann looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bornemann tries to get to full guard but Maximus has control of the leg. Maximus stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bornemann to get to his feet. Maximus shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bornemann pinned against the cage. Bornemann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Bornemann feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Maximus is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Bornemann jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Bornemann tries to free his leg and advance position but Maximus is retaining full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Maximus closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Bornemann being controlled against the cage. Maximus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bornemann changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maximus looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Bornemann tries to move to mount but Maximus blocks the move with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bornemann is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maximus has escaped the position, nice work there. Maximus is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bornemann 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Maximus regains full guard. Nicely done. Maximus is looking to stand up but Bornemann isn't so interested in that idea. Maximus controls Bornemann momentarily but Bornemann frees himself. Bornemann pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maximus is keeping the position for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Hans Bornemann will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

He's landed in Maximus's guard. Maximus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bornemann 's guard. Bornemann is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Maximus rolls with it to try and escape but Bornemann cranks on the arm and Maximus is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carter wants to clinch. Carter lands with a straight right. Joe didn't see that one coming. Carter throws a shot from downtown. Joe moves away and avoids it. Carter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carter in side control, throwing shots but Joe defends. Carter tries for a kimura but Joe is defending well. Joe tries to improve position but can't. Joe takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Joe sneaks back into half guard. Joe strikes from the bottom but Carter uses the opportunity to move to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Joe is keen to just control but Carter is a slippery customer. Carter is trying to stand back up but Joe is controlling him
Joe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Joe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carter keeps working. Joe is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Carter reverses the position - he's now on top in Joe's guard. Carter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Joe is looking for a triangle here but Carter uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Joe is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carter lands a decent elbow from side control. Carter working the body and head with strikes. Joe sneaks back into half guard. Carter trying to mount his opponent but Joe defends it. Joe on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Carter prevents Joe from improving his position. Carter trying to control from half guard but Joe is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter is nestled in close to Joe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Carter scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Carter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Joe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Joe lands a couple of sideways elbows. Joe is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Carter pulls his head out easily. Carter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Carter decides to return to a standing position. Jab from Carter. Carter clinches. Carter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Carter counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. A left and a right from Carter both land. Nice combination. Joe doesn't succeed with the takedown and Carter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Joe's guard now. This has been an exciting period of action! Joe throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Joe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carter tries to buck Joe off but Joe is having none of it. Carter manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Joe looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Carter manages to get to full guard.

Carter has momentary wrist control but Joe slips an elbow through the middle. Joe gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting. Carter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Joe misses with a takedown and Carter counters with a lovely shot to the body. Carter shoots and misses and Joe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carter! Joe in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's better than Polis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hunter is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Polis trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Polis thows a big elbow that misses. Rogga Polis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Polis with a flurry of punches that miss.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Polis throws a leg kick that is checked and Hunter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Polis won't be happy with that. The ground and pound from Hunter seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Matt Hunter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hunter has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hunter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
