The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Madd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Madd drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Madd as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Torres screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Madd! Nice submission victory there!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herbert keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Herbert drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Lapedis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Herbert's best efforts.
Herbert not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lapedis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lapedis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Lapedis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Herbert doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Herbert manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Herbert thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Lapedis is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Herbert rolls with it to try and escape but Lapedis cranks on the arm and Herbert is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
