The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marshall looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Albertini is fending him off so far but Marshall persists. Nope, Albertini circles away and we're back to standing. Albertini shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Albertini tries to pass to full mount but Marshall defends it. Marshall is staying active underneath Albertini, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Albertini missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Marshall scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Albertini manages to mount him!
Albertini wants to control the pace but Marshall is squirming around nicely. Albertini lands a big shot there that rocks Marshall but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Mustafa as Chavez shoots in. Mustafa misses with a takedown and Chavez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chavez. Chavez looking to pass the guard. Mustafa wants to stand but Chavez is controlling the position. Mustafa throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Chavez passes easily into side control. Nice work. Chavez working away. Chavez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Chavez tries to move to mount but Mustafa blocks the move with his legs. Mustafa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chavez is controlling him well. Mustafa is trying to control Chavez's posture but Chavez avoids it. Chavez lands an elbow.

He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Chavez's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mustafa. Mustafa wants to get up but he can't break Chavez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Mustafa is breathing heavily. Mustafa won't allow Chavez to sweep him here. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Chavez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A big right from Chavez misses. Mustafa fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez stalks Mustafa and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mustafa's face. Mustafa staggers backwards, shaken. Mustafa with a poor takedown and Chavez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chavez. Mustafa has Chavez pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Chavez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mustafa missing with knees to the body.

Nice straight punches there by Chavez. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Chavez. Mustafa walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Chavez scores a takedown into full mount! Chavez fails to advance to Mustafa's back. Chavez is in the full mount, landing strikes. Mustafa is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chavez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Even with his hooks in, Chavez manages to miss with strikes from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chavez has Mustafa flattened out and is raining down punches. Chavez is persistently looking for the submission but Mustafa is defending it well.

Mustafa remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Chavez will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Mustafa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Chavez gets his way!

Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brove but Brove pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice takedown defense from Brove. No joy for Jones on that attempt. Brove gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Brove is retaining full guard. Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brove swivels though and keeps the full guard. Brove keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones won't allow Brove to get back to his feet. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Brove keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. Jones is working Brove over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Brove tries to kick Jones off in order to stand up. Jones Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Brove is not content to let Jones control the position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! gameelo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Evans pinned against the cage. Evans gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Horrible takedown by gameelo or perhaps it was just good defense by Evans which made him look bad. gameelo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Chase Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of hooda gameelo. gameelo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Evans misses with a takedown and gameelo counters with a single leg into guard. Evans didn't expect that. gameelo drops back looking for a leg! Evans is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Evans manages to kick gameelo off! gameelo jumps back into Evans's guard. Evans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Evans wants to pass to mount but gameelo is defending the position. Evans works his foot free and advances to mount.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shamrock takes a shot right to the bread basket. Mac lets loose with a powerful body kick. Shamrock will feel that in the morning. Mac scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Shamrock shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mac pinned against the cage. Mac gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice takedown defense from Mac. No joy for Shamrock on that attempt. Mac throws a sloppy head kick and Shamrock moves out of range easily. Shamrock closes the distance and clinches up with Mac, looking for a takedown. Shamrock pushes Mac against the ropes but Mac circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Shamrock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shamrock throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mac's waist but Mac gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shamrock off to one side. Mac keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
