Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucio Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Yvealies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santos comes into the arena with Get It blaring out of the sound system. Gilbert Yvealies told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Seivas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valquez misses with a series of wild punches.

Valquez feints and as Seivas raises his hands in defense, Valquez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Seivas wants to get back to his feet but Valquez passes into half guard.
Seivas holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Valquez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Valquez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Seivas reverses the position - he's now on top in Valquez's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Valquez wants to sweep here but Seivas controlling him for the moment.
Valquez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Seivas!

Valquez goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Seivas is on top in guard.
Valquez working a defensive guard but Seivas manages to pass into side control anyway.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Valquez tries to bench press Seivas off him but Seivas keeps the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Seivas fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Valquez dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Valquez shoots in for a double leg but Seivas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Valquez misses with a two punch combination.
Valquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Seivas tries to avoid it but Valquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Seivas to the ground. Seivas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Seivas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valquez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Seivas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Seivas loads up on a big right hand but Valquez slips the punch.

Valquez has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Valquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Seivas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Seivas. No joy for Valquez on that attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Seivas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice body punch from Seivas.
Valquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Seivas swivels and escapes.
Seivas throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Valquez tumbling to the canvas!

Valquez is rocked!

It looks like Ed Valquez has been cut.
Valquez keeping moving, preventing Seivas from controlling successfully.

Valquez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Seivas is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Valquez.
Valquez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Seivas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Valquez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Valquez!
Valquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seivas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio Seivas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ed Valquez's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Valquez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Valquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Valquez gets a takedown into half guard.
Seivas makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Seivas.

Valquez postures up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Valquez trying to control but Seivas is working from the bottom.
Seivas working a defensive guard but Valquez passes into half guard.

Valquez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Seivas defends it well.

Valquez is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Seivas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Valquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Seivas wants to get back to full guard but Valquez has mounted him!

Valquez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Seivas is now in Valquez's guard. A big mistake from Valquez there, giving up the dominant position!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ed Valquez showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Valquez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
