0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Lowrey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Lee Redmond! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redmond drives through with a takedown into guard. Redmond drops back looking for a leg! Lowrey is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lowrey manages to kick Redmond off! Redmond jumps back into Lowrey's guard. Lowrey will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Lowrey working for a triangle but Redmond defends it easily.
Lowrey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Redmond gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Redmond stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lowrey swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lowrey working a defensive guard here.
Redmond drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Redmond jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lowrey misses with a takedown attempt and Redmond counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Redmond. Redmond tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lowrey smiles and moves away.

That could mean trouble for Lowrey! Redmond jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lowrey manages to avoid the submission attempt. Lowrey regains half guard. Redmond is taking a breather. Lowrey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Jerry Lee Redmond has got the better of the ground game so far. Redmond slips a nice elbow through Lowrey's hands, connecting with Lowrey's forehead. Redmond is looking for a kimura but Lowrey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Redmond to get the leverage. Redmond is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Redmond looking to sit in guard and control but Lowrey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lowrey drops back for a leg! And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jerry Lee Redmond. Well Redmond has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Carson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Lambe stops Carson from standing up. Sam Carson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lambe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Carson dives on top into guard. Carson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Andrew Lambe has got the better of the ground game so far. Carson is looking to stand up but Lambe won't let him. Lambe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Or the ring announcers come to think of it. James is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Freinster moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. James is breathing heavily. Freinster is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down James's shoulder. That is not cool.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones wants to clinch up but Gutierrez keeps it at a distance. Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Jones trying to control the position but Gutierrez is working away. Gutierrez tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it. Gutierrez is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones is really struggling to control Gutierrez but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gutierrez is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control. Jones cracks Gutierrez with a big right hand but Gutierrez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gutierrez tries to improve position but can't. Jones trying to control the position but Gutierrez is working away. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jones! Jones is trying to land an Americana. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gutierrez's back instead. Gutierrez tries to escape but Jones has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Gutierrez turns into Jones and is now in his guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jones tries to clinch and Gutierrez counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gutierrez shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Marcus Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones misses with a takedown attempt so Gutierrez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gutierrez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jones is trying to keep Gutierrez in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jones uses his free foot to push down on Gutierrez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gutierrez. Gutierrez looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! I really don't envy Gutierrez right now.
Herman Gutierrez has got the better of the ground game so far. Gutierrez is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones is trying to stick to Gutierrez's back but Gutierrez is turning into Jones. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jones's guard.
