Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuri Patrovski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Yoshida! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yoshida fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patrovski sprawls well initially but Yoshida persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Patrovski punching from the bottom.
Patrovski is looking to control Yoshida's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Patrovski avoid being mounted? Yoshida thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Patrovski's head. Yoshida is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Yoshida with the ground and pound but Patrovski uses the opportunity to regain guard. Patrovski tries to land a sweep but no joy. Yoshida with a nice head shot there. Yoshida drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yoshida jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Yoshida postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Patrovski is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Yoshida, into his guard. Patrovski slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patrovski trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Patrovski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Patrovski postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Patrovski slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Patrovski wants to control from the top but Yoshida keeps moving. Patrovski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Yoshida looking for subs off his back but Patrovski has passed one foot through into half guard.
Yoshida tries to roll over but Patrovski keeps him under control. It looks like Patrovski is going to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Patrovski is thwarting Yoshida's attempts to control the position. Patrovski blocks the strikes from Yoshida.
Yoshida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Yoshida is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Patrovski pulls his head out easily. Yoshida looks gassed!
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Yoshida shoots in and drives through. Patrovski sprawls well. Patrovski looks for a takedown but Yoshida sprawls well. Patrovski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Yoshida with a lazy takedown attempt and Patrovski counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yoshida won't be happy with that. Patrovski looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Patrovski trying to control the action but Yoshida is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patrovski decides to take the fight back to the feet. Patrovski scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Patrovski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Patrovski postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Yoshida is looking to regain half guard here but Patrovski keeps moving and retains side control. The referee asks Patrovski politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Patrovski prefers to stall for the moment though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yoshida looks to move to half guard but instead Patrovski has passed into mount! Damn! Patrovski prevents Yoshida from getting the reversal. Patrovski controlling from the full mount. Patrovski prevents Yoshida from getting the reversal. Patrovski wants to control the pace but Yoshida is squirming around nicely. Yoshida is desperately trying to improve his position but Patrovski has a good base and remains in mount. Patrovski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Yoshida is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yuri Patrovski dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Yoshida shoots and misses and Patrovski counters by moving into the clinch. Yoshida has Patrovski pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Patrovski manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Patrovski tries to score a body lock takedown but Yoshida shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Patrovski breaks from the clinch.
Patrovski feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Patrovski connects with a couple of short punches. Patrovski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Yoshida works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Patrovski wants to control from the top but Yoshida keeps moving. Yoshida is looking for a triangle here but Patrovski uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Patrovski working the body and head with strikes. Patrovski scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Yoshida to see if he's OK. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Patrovski advances to full mount. Patrovski tries to control but Yoshida wriggling away. Yuri Patrovski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Yoshida defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Patrovski. Yoshida gets back to half guard. Patrovski is nestled in close to Yoshida, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Patrovski seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yoshida does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Patrovski is pressing down on Yoshida's thigh, looking to free his foot. Yoshida is holding on for now. Yoshida has a hand on Patrovski's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Patrovski takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yoshida is squirming around, avoiding Patrovski's attempts to control the action. Yoshida can't escape the position.

The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Patrovski dominating with strikes here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Patrovski controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoshida shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Yoshida goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Patrovski turns into him and now he's in Yoshida's guard.
Patrovski works a leg free and moves into half guard. Yoshida looking for subs from the bottom but Patrovski mounts him! Patrovski has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Yoshida's face.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Patrovski dominating with strikes here. Yoshida defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Patrovski. Yoshida is in a horrible position here. Patrovski smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Patrovski wants to finish this one by submission but Yoshida is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Patrovski. Yoshida reaches up to try and control the position but Patrovski seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Yoshida rolls and tries to escape and now Patrovski has his back!

There ya go! There ya go! Patrovski controls from within his opponent's guard. Yoshida throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Patrovski wants to control from the top but Yoshida keeps moving. Patrovski is really struggling to control Yoshida but he's trying to hold on to the position. Patrovski is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Yoshida has his feet on Patrovski's thighs here. He's pushed Patrovski off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Patrovski screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Larry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Larry lands in his opponent's guard. Alves is pulling down on Larry's head. It's preventing any offense from Larry, at least for the moment. Alves working a defensive guard here.

That's going to take a lot out of John Larry. Larry misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Alves throws a series of punches but Larry avoids them all with ease.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Larry misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Alves is looking to land body kicks. Alves cracks a nice hook into Larry's ribs. Alves with a body punch. A glancing blow. Alves misses with a double jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Alves throws a nice looking combination but Larry bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Larry tries to clinch but Alves is having none of it. Alves scores with a one two! Larry had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Alves darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A left and a right from Alves both land. Nice combination. A right-left combo lands from Alves. Alves misses with a two punch combination.
Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Larry moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Alves works Larry's body with a nice hook. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alves lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Larry is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alves is just riding it out for now. Larry eventually gives up the hold. Alves is trying to stand up here but Larry is controlling him well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alves lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Steve Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Larry tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alves swivels and escapes. Steve Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Larry. Alves displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Steve Alves is winning the standup battle so far. Larry avoids a punch combination nicely.
Larry tries to close the distance and clinch but Alves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Larry shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Larry was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close second round but I would say that Steve Alves will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Will he get it? Alves is fending him off so far but Larry persists. Nope, Alves circles away and we're back to standing. Larry takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Alves works over Larry's head and body with a nice combination. Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's one minute gone in the round. A punch lands to the side of Larry 's head but he takes it in his stride. Alves throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Larry fails with a takedown attempt. Alves lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Left hook, right uppercut from Alves. Good work by Larry as he checks the leg kick. Alves fakes the leg kick and cracks Larry in the body. Alves looks to land a combination. Larry sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Larry or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves which made him look bad. Alves goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Alves swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Larry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Alves bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Larry's head backwards. Alves feints and then cracks Larry's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Larry down. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Larry. Donk. Alves catches Larry right on the button with a cross.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Larry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Steve Alves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Larry has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. A combination from Alves does no damage. Larry fails to land the takedown. Alves displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Alves throws a nice inside leg kick. Alves throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Larry gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Larry drops down looking for an ankle pick but Alves pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alves scores with a jab. Larry acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Alves looks to land a combination but Larry avoids it well. Larry shoots in but no luck this time. Larry looks for a takedown but Alves sprawls well. Larry shoots in for a double leg but Alves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jab by Alves. John Larry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Larry ducks under a wild hook from Alves. Alves fails to land with a series of punches.
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Alves showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clint Fredriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fredriksson comes to the ring accompanied by Ennio Morricone - The good, the bad and the ugly. Alex Partridge struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Partridge. Fredriksson throws a hook but Partridge avoids it easily. Fredriksson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Partridge tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Fredriksson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Partridge tries to work over Fredriksson's front leg with a kick but Fredriksson checks it. Partridge will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Clint Fredriksson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A big left from Fredriksson misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fredriksson just misses with a punch to the body.

Joung throws a right and a left that both miss. Nemeth lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Joung fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nemeth sprawls well initially but Joung persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pai Mei! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mei keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Johnstone. Nice takedown defense from Mei. No joy for Johnstone on that attempt. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Johnstone drops Mei with a beautiful combination! Mei stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Johnstone is looking for the KO!
Mei is rocked!
It looks like Pai Mei has been cut. A thudding body kick lands there by Mei!
Mei is still on wobbly legs! Can Johnstone finish him? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Johnstone looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mei is fending him off so far but Johnstone persists. Nope, Mei circles away and we're back to standing. Mei seems to have recovered his senses. Mei moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Mei darts in and clinches Johnstone up against the ropes. Johnstone changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mei fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Johnstone. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mei scores a takedown into full mount! Mei stands up from mount. Strange move. Johnstone checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Mei misses with a head kick.
Johnstone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mei misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Johnstone is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Mei has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Johnstone is looking to defend but Mei has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Johnstone! Mei pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Johnstone taps out and this one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Happiness decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Happiness is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tao is looking for a sweep. Happiness is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Happiness is figuring out what he wants to do next. Tao wants to improve his position but Happiness is controlling well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tao uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Happiness.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Tao has eaten all the pies! Tao gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Happiness counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's one minute gone in the round. Happiness trying to control but Tao is working from the bottom. Tao looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Happiness is pushing down on Tao's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tao is fighting to maintain full guard but Happiness has managed to sneak the leg through. Happiness wants to pass to mount but Tao is defending the position. Tao is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tao is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Happiness pulls his head out easily. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tao looks gassed! Happiness uses his free foot to push down on Tao's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tao. Tao tries to improve his position but instead Happiness has taken his back!

Happiness lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Tao.
Happiness working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Happiness has the hooks in. Tao is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Happiness landing with strikes. Tao trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Tao might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Happiness kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Tao is trapped and Happiness is scoring with shots to the head and body. Tao preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Happiness.

Happiness is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Tao defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Happiness is trying to stick to Tao's back but Tao is turning into Happiness. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Happiness's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Tao. Tao drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tao jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Happiness trying to control the position.

Happiness is staying active underneath Tao, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Tao is looking for a kimura but Happiness is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tao to get the leverage. Tao tries to pass the half guard into mount. Happiness knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Tao thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Happiness regains full guard. Nicely done. Happiness manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tao manages to get himself to full guard.

Tao is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Happiness couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Moltisanti connects with a single shot there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Moltisanti lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
