The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Salo connects with a body shot. Loiri ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Salo misses with a double jab.
Salo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Loiri tries to clinch up but Salo circles away and keeps his distance. A cross from Salo lands. Salo lands a jab to Loiri's midsection. Loiri staying out of range there. Salo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Salo throws a right and a left that both miss. Salo blocks a head kick by Loiri.
Loiri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Salo paws at him with a jab and circles away. Loiri takes one to the side of the head.
Loiri tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Salo was well out of range. Poor timing from Loiri. A right-left combo lands from Salo.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salo digs a good body shot into Loiri's ribs. Salo getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Loiri is rocked! Loiri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Salo paws at him with a jab and circles away. Salo lands with a right and another and another! Loiri is in big trouble! Salo lands again and this time it's lights out for Loiri! A quality knockout there for Salo.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perse looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Aromaa is fending him off so far but Perse persists. Nope, Aromaa circles away and we're back to standing. Aromaa throws a body punch but Perse moves out of range. Aromaa throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Aromaa has closed the distance and engaged Perse in a clinch.
Aromaa has picked Perse up - he's going for a ride! Aromaa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Aromaa is trying to control the action in half guard but Perse is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perse wants to get back to full guard. Aromaa trying to mount his opponent but Perse defends it. Perse wants to get back to full guard. Aromaa working the head and body with strikes. Aromaa trying to mount his opponent but Perse defends it. Aromaa is looking to take a break and control but Perse is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aromaa not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Perse clinches but Aromaa breaks the clinch and Aromaa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Aromaa content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Perse regains full guard. Nicely done. Aromaa thows a big elbow that misses. Aromaa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perse swivels though and keeps the full guard. Perse tries to land a sweep but no joy. Perse looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aromaa has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Perse to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Aromaa is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Perse pulls down on the head and he's put Aromaa to sleep! This one is all over!

Beaudin feints and as Kovatch raises his hands in defense, Beaudin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Beaudin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beaudin wants to get up but he can't break Kovatch's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Beaudin stands up over Kovatch, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Beaudin throws a big right hand that misses. Beaudin with a nice head shot there. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Beaudin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kovatch's head. Kovatch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kovatch has his foot on Beaudin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beaudin works his way back into a safe position though. Kovatch working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Beaudin has passed into half guard!

Kovatch looking for submissions off his back. Beaudin postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kovatch to stand up. Kovatch slips under a jab from Beaudin. Kovatch misses with a takedown attempt and Beaudin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kovatch's guard. Kovatch looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Beaudin passes into half guard.
Beaudin winds up and cracks Kovatch with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Beaudin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Beaudin wants to take a breather but Kovatch is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Riley Beaudin dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
A punch lands to the side of Beaudin 's head but he takes it in his stride. Beaudin misses with a two punch combination.
Beaudin misses with an uppercut. Kovatch saw that one coming. Beaudin stuffs the takedown attempt from Kovatch. Kovatch gets slowly back to his feet. Kovatch doesn't manage to clinch there - Beaudin circles away.
Beaudin rushes Kovatch and presses him up against the cage. Beaudin misses with some punches.
Kovatch is trying to drag Beaudin to the mat but Beaudin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Beaudin breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beaudin has Kovatch up against the cage in a clinch.
Kovatch drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Beaudin gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kovatch sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Kovatch is trying to get back to full guard. Kovatch is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beaudin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beaudin's back! Kovatch has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Kovatch is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Beaudin's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Riley Beaudin has got the better of the ground game so far. Beaudin is posturing up here but Kovatch has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Beaudin tries to roll out but it's too tight and Beaudin has to tap! Slick submission there by Kovatch!

Let's hope that LaRue has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gruberman regains half guard. LaRue throwing shots but Gruberman is blocking nicely. LaRue looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Gruberman flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Gruberman wants to control but LaRue is keeping busy and won't allow it. LaRue thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gruberman's head. Gruberman tries to roll over but LaRue keeps him under control. LaRue is controlling the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. LaRue throws a wild combination but nothing lands. LaRue lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gruberman circles away quickly and effectively. LaRue drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. LaRue trying to control the action but Gruberman is working from the bottom. Gruberman being controlled for a moment. LaRue scores with punches from side control. Gruberman is trying to control LaRue's posture but LaRue avoids it. Gruberman tries to bench press LaRue off him but LaRue keeps the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lecouc trying to control the position from guard on top but Henderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Henderson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Christensen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Ankka goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Christensen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Christensen looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Christensen throwing strikes but missing. Christensen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Christensen wants to control from the top but Ankka keeps moving. Ankka wants to sweep here but Christensen controlling him for the moment. Christensen advances to half guard.

Ankka does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Christensen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Well, if Christensen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
