The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Russell throws a lazy right hand but Strong sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Strong tries to clinch up. Horrible takedown by Russell or perhaps it was just good defense by Strong which made him look bad. Strong connects with a jab.
It looks like Jamal Russell has been cut. Strong throws a left that rocks Russell and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Strong dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Russell regain composure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Russell is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Strong's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Strong drops an elbow to the side of Russell's head. Russell actively working from the bottom here. Strong drops an elbow to the side of Russell's head.
The cut above Jamal Russell's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Russell tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Strong seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Leary sizes up Suzuki with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
It looks like Osamu Suzuki has been cut. O Leary digs a good body shot into Suzuki's ribs. The fight stays on the outside here - Suzuki looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Suzuki leaves his chin hanging out and O Leary seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Suzuki crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Bandito Salsas is trying is best to control the position here. Smith missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Bandito Salsas gets full guard. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Bandito Salsas is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bandito Salsas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bandito Salsas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith wants to control from the top but Bandito Salsas keeps moving. Smith shoots in but no luck this time. Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bandito Salsas's guard. Bandito Salsas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith! Smith wants to hold on but Bandito Salsas pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is squirming around, avoiding Bandito Salsas's attempts to control the action. Smith is trying desperately to improve position. A nice elbow there by Bandito Salsas. Bandito Salsas is going olschool here, as he tries to force Smith to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smith shrugs it off. Bandito Salsas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Bandito Salsas trying to control but Smith is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bandito Salsas lands a heavy elbow. Bandito Salsas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Smith is looking to improve his position but Bandito Salsas isn't that keen on the idea. Smith is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bandito Salsas gets his way!

Bandito Salsas really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Smith. Bandito Salsas is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bandito Salsas gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bandito Salsas gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bandito Salsas apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Troy Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bandito Salsas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Bandito Salsas tries to clinch up. Smith keeps the fight on the outside. Bandito Salsas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bandito Salsas showed some decent athleticism there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hansson lands a glancing blow to the side of Markson's head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Markson. Markson is breathing heavily. Markson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Markson. Hansson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Markson has a hand on Hansson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hansson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Hansson landing strikes from the mount and Markson is in trouble! Hansson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Markson takes one to the chin there. Hansson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

He's got his arms around Hansson's waist but Hansson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Markson off to one side. Hansson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Markson misses with a takedown attempt - Hansson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hansson wants to clinch up but Markson keeps it at a distance. Hansson looks to land a combination. Markson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Hansson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Markson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hansson circles away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hansson is looking to clinch. Hansson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Hansson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Markson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hansson sprawls well initially but Markson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Hansson actively working from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Markson tries to move into range but Hansson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Hansson scores with a jab. Markson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Markson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Hansson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Hansson tests Markson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Markson takes one on the button. Hansson misses with a body kick. Hansson scores to the head and body with a nice combination! A kick lands to the mid section there for Hansson. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hansson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Hansson throws a series of punches but Markson avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Markson misses with a hook. Hansson ducked under it nicely. Hansson catches Markson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Hansson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Markson at a distance.
Hansson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Markson's hands. Hansson tries a head kick but it misses.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hansson, as that shot connected.
Hansson throws a head kick that misses and Markson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Markson. Markson jumps into guard, dragging Hansson to the mat.

Hansson trying to control but Markson is working from the bottom. Hansson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hansson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Markson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hansson.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Markson moves into range and clinches up with Hansson. Markson throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hansson blocks it with crossed arms. Hansson looks to throw an elbow but misses. Hansson misses with an elbow over the top. Hansson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hansson lands a nice shot to the body.

Hansson lands an elbow inside. Markson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick misses from Hansson. Markson shoots in looking for a takedown. Hansson tries to sprawl out of it but Markson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hansson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Markson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Markson tries to clinch but Hansson is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hansson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Markson dodges the punch combination from Hansson.

Markson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Markson clinches. Markson misses with a knee to the head. Hansson trying to control the position but instead, Markson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hansson into the cage. Hansson looks to throw an elbow but misses. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Hansson prevents the takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Bob which made him look bad. Bob ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Johnson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson tries for a kimura but Bob is defending well. Bob wants to control but Johnson postures up. Bob gets back to half guard. Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Bob defends it. Johnson is working for a submission of some sort.

Johnson is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bob connects with the punch. Johnson is still on wobbly legs! Can Bob finish him? Bob dances in with a quick combination. Johnson is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Bob snaps Johnson's head back. Johnson stumbles backwards against the cage. Bob steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Johnson's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Johnson just didn't come prepared.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bob rushes Alves and presses him up against the cage. Alves wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Bob misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Alves.

Alves pushes Bob against the cage but Bob circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Acelino Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bob throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Alves shoots for a double leg takedown but Bob sprawls well. He's pushed Alves's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Alves is breathing heavily. Bob gets caught flat footed, as Alves shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Bob will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Bob remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Alves will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alves has the hooks in. Bob is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Even with his hooks in, Alves manages to miss with strikes from the back. Alves throwing sloppy strikes.
