Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucian Rodrigues!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Arealius!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arealius looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Rodrigues displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Arealius throws out the jab.
Rodrigues fails with a takedown attempt.

Arealius has managed to clinch.
Rodrigues has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Arealius is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Arealius breaks from the clinch.
A choreographed right hand from Rodrigues misses the target.
Rodrigues tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Arealius swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucian Rodrigues. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rodrigues loads up on a big right hand but Arealius slips the punch.
Nice straight punches there by Arealius. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Arealius.
Arealius swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodrigues.
Rodrigues takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rodrigues cracks Arealius with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Arealius throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Arealius darts in and clinches Rodrigues up against the cage.
Arealius wants to break the clinch but can't.
Arealius is pressed up against the cage. Rodrigues has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Arealius down to the mat. Arealius avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rodrigues tries for a takedown but Arealius sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rodrigues blocks the body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arealius circles away from the clinch attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Stalling in the clinch from Rodrigues.

Arealius breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Arealius dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rodrigues. That did some damage!
Arealius misses with a body shot.
Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Arealius as he jumps to the side.
Rodrigues is breathing heavily.

Rodrigues has taken the fight to the clinch.

Arealius escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Horrible takedown by Rodrigues or perhaps it was just good defense by Arealius which made him look bad.
Arealius looks to clinch

and Rodrigues counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Arealius!
Arealius wants to control but Rodrigues is having none of it.
Arealius wants to try and get back to his feet.

Arealius bucks up and throws Rodrigues to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Arealius has taken the fight to the clinch.

Arealius breaks the clinch.
Arealius throws a left and a right that both miss

and Rodrigues counters by clinching up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Arealius wants to break the clinch but can't.
Rodrigues avoiding damage.
Arealius throws a head punch that misses.

Arealius breaks from the clinch.
Rodrigues circles away from the clinch attempt.
Arealius lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rodrigues's sensitive parts.
Rodrigues looks for a takedown but Arealius sprawls well.
Rodrigues is looking to clinch but Arealius is avoiding it.
Arealius throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Arealius but Arealius pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rodrigues stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Arealius.

Rodrigues gets a takedown into half guard.
Arealius has hold of Rodrigues's hands but Rodrigues slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rodrigues lands a nice short elbow.

Rodrigues in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Arealius tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Rodrigues!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lucian Rodrigues!
Lucian Rodrigues is the new middleweight champion!
