3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Ward! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward throws a series of punches but Sanchez avoids them all with ease. Ward wants to clinch up but Sanchez keeps it at a distance. Ward tries to clinch but Sanchez is having none of it. Sanchez on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Sanchez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Donk. Ward catches Sanchez right on the button with a cross. Sanchez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ward on the side of the head. Ward swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ward rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sanchez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ward looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ward tries to clinch there but Sanchez circles away.
Sanchez misses with a low kick. Sanchez dodges the punch combination from Ward.
Sanchez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ward tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard. Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Ward from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez wants to stand and escape but Ward is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sanchez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ward wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sanchez circles away from the clinch attempt and Sanchez moves into the clinch. Sanchez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ward blocks it with crossed arms. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sanchez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Sanchez landing knees to the head.

It looks like Smasher Sanchez has been cut. Ward tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Oh Sanchez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ward has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sanchez seems to have got his legs back now. Ward throws a nice looking combination but Sanchez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ward wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ward wants to clinch and Sanchez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ward's guard.

Ward manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sanchez manages to get himself to full guard.
Sanchez can't keep his opponent in guard - Ward advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Ward has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Sanchez holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ward tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ward has control of Sanchez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sanchez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Ward dominated that round. The cut man is working on Smasher Sanchez's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ward misses with a kick to the body and Sanchez counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sanchez. Ward looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sanchez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Horrible takedown by Ward or perhaps it was just good defense by Sanchez which made him look bad. Sanchez fails with the takedown. Ward swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ward connects with a body shot. Ward tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanchez was well out of range. Poor timing from Ward. Sanchez forces Ward back against the cage and clinches. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Sanchez misses with a knee to the head. Ward is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sanchez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ward.
Ward breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ward throws a right hand that Sanchez ducks under and follows up with a left that Sanchez also avoids with ease. Ward goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Jack Ward seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sanchez shoots in looking for a takedown. Ward tries to sprawl out of it but Sanchez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ward manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smasher Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez walks straight into a right hand from Ward - that's dropped him! Ward jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Sanchez from any more punishment! Sanchez complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

I think Wholequist might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 'Extreme Ways' by Moby. Diesel has chosen "What You Know" - T.I. as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Jackson Wholequist has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jackson Wholequist seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hobbs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marley circles away quickly and effectively. Hobbs wants to clinch. Marley shoots in but no luck this time. Marley shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Marley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Marley is pressing down on Hobbs's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hobbs is holding on for now. Marley looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Salcedo has his hands on De Troyer's head, controlling the position. De Troyer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Salcedo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. De Troyer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Salcedo, up you get! Salcedo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from De Troyer. Salcedo ducks under a wild hook from De Troyer. De Troyer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. De Troyer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Tooley swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Headden shoots in looking for a takedown. Tooley tries to sprawl out of it but Headden keeps driving through. But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Headden, into his guard. Tooley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Headden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tooley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Tooley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Headden had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tooley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Headden Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tooley's back instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Headden is persistently looking for the submission but Tooley is defending it well.
Headden has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Tooley! Can he survive? No! He's out! Headden gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Biffman tries to escape but Ballantine is in control. Ballantine is looking to take a break and control but Biffman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ballantine tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Ballantine tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Biffman regains half guard, as Ballantine was trying to land strikes.

A left and a right from Ballantine both land. Nice combination. Biffman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
