4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Coach Goochman! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goochman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shark looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Shark is staying active underneath Goochman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Goochman is working for a submission of some sort.
Goochman uses his free foot to push down on Shark's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Shark. Shark has left one of his arms exposed and Goochman doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Shark screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dreyer misses with the combination.

Dreyer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Dreyer clinches. Dreyer tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Dreyer's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Brown should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dreyer is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Brown gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Brown is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Brown goes for a takedown attempt but Dreyer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dreyer misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown looks to clinch and Brown takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Brown seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Dreyer shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Brown is backing up but Dreyer catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Brown covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Dreyer Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Michaels feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McGee IV wants to get back to his feet but Michaels is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Michaels postures up in McGee IV's guard and throws a big left but McGee IV blocks it. McGee IV trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. McGee IV tries to land a sweep but no joy. Michaels throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Possibly, maybe, no Sydney has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sydney is putting a hurting on Cross here, landing some big shots from side control.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparrow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Russell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Russell pushes Sparrow up against the cage in a clinch. Sparrow breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sparrow fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Nice sprawl there from Russell as Sparrow shoots in. Russell has his takedown stuffed and Sparrow counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Sparrow throws a shot to the body.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Russell is trying to reverse the position but instead Sparrow has taken his back - oops! Sparrow is squirming around, avoiding Russell's attempts to control the action. Russell prevents Sparrow from getting the reversal.

Russell in side control, throwing shots but Sparrow defends. Russell has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Russell circles away from the clinch attempt and Russell counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Russell pushes down on Sparrow's leg and manages to get into half guard. Russell wants to free his trapped foot but Sparrow is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Russell fails with the takedown and Sparrow counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Russell's guard now. Sparrow stands up from guard. Let's bang! Russell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sparrow counters with a nice double leg into side control. Russell won't be happy with that. Russell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Russell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The strikes coming from Sparrow are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sparrow tries to close the distance and clinch up but Russell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Russell shoots in for a double leg but Sparrow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wiremu Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sparrow fails in his attempt to clinch. Russell drives through with a takedown into guard. Russell trying to control but Sparrow is working from the bottom. Russell postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Russell lands a couple of decent looking shots. Russell wants to control from the top but Sparrow keeps moving. Russell tries to free his leg and advance position but Sparrow is retaining full guard. Sparrow lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Russell!

It looks like Monster Mann has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Palmer takes the fight into the clinch. Palmer blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Palmer throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Manns head. Mann fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A battle for position here, against the cage. Mann jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Palmer walks away with a smile on his face. Mann gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. The fight stays on the outside here - Palmer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Palmer moves out of range as Mann strikes. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Mann misses with a hook. Palmer ducked under it nicely. Mann keeps the fight on the outside. Mann needs to keep his hands up - Palmer had a free shot at his head there.
Monster Mann's cut is getting worse. Mann jabs Palmer right on the nose. Palmer blinks but takes it well. Mann lands with a cross. Mann changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palmer tries to avoid it but Mann manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palmer to the ground. Palmer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mann connects with a right hand. Palmer shakes it off. A swing and a miss from Mann. Palmer tries to clinch but Mann is having none of it. Mann throws a body kick that misses. Mann shoots in but Palmer avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Monster Mann. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mann waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Palmer. The fight stays on the outside here - Palmer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Palmer moves out of range of the strikes. A jab from Palmer misses. Mann throws the left hand but Palmer avoids the punch easily. Palmer wants to clinch up but Mann keeps it at a distance. Mann keeps the fight on the outside. Mann shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Palmer but Palmer pushes him off and we're back to square one. Palmer throws a head kick but Mann moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Palmer ducks right into an uppercut from Mann. Palmer tries to clinch but Mann moves out of range. A swing and a miss from Mann. Palmer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
