The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kapane tries to clinch but Collins moves out of range. Collins moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Kapane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Collins but Collins pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kapane misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Collins turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kapane is breathing heavily. A big head kick from Collins and Kapane is sent sprawling to the canvas!
It looks like Jyrki Kapane has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Collins showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Kapane can't keep his opponent in guard - Collins advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Collins winds up and cracks Kapane with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Collins seems to be working for a kimura but Kapane defends the submission attempt. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Collins lands a nice short elbow. Collins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kapane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Collins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kapane scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Collins manages to mount him!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laitela gets a takedown into half guard. Laitela throwing shots but Silva is blocking nicely. Silva wants to improve his position but Laitela is controlling well.
Silva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Laitela thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Laitela knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground. Laitela is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Silva is just riding it out for now. Laitela eventually gives up the hold. Silva on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Silva looking for a kimura from the bottom but Laitela passes into side control! Silva struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laitela is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Silva manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Silva manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Silva controls Laitela momentarily but Laitela frees himself. Silva looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Laitela slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Laitela scoring with punches and elbows. Silva manages to work his way to half guard, despite Laitela's best efforts. Silva trying to hold on to Laitela's head to control him but Laitela postures up.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well. Laitela is breathing heavily. Laitela seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Laitela's guard. Laitela has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though. Silva slips nicely into half guard. Silva looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Laitela with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Silva moves nicely into side control. Silva connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Laitela some visible discomfort.

Horrible takedown by Silakka or perhaps it was just good defense by Nasaretilainen which made him look bad. Nasaretilainen stuffs the takedown. Nasaretilainen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Torsti Nasaretilainen has been cut. Silakka misses with a takedown attempt - Nasaretilainen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Torsti Nasaretilainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timo Silakka. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matzischin misses with a wild combination.
Kingston shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Matzischin as he jumps to the side. Matzischin thows a left - swing and a miss! No luck for Kingston with that takedown attempt. Kingston shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Kingston. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kingston throws the left hand but Matzischin avoids the punch easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Matzischin looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Matzischin keeps the fight on the outside.

A combination from Matzischin does no damage. Matzischin throws a lazy right hand but Kingston sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kingston checks a leg kick. Kingston tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matzischin swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matzischin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. This has been an exciting period of action! Kingston drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kingston won't allow Matzischin to sweep him here. Matzischin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Matzischin can't keep his opponent in guard - Kingston advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kingston is breathing heavily. Matzischin is concentrating on defense, preventing Kingston from advancing position. Kingston is tying to control. Matzischin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Matzischin wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kingston wants to pass the guard but Matzischin is defending well. Matzischin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kingston. Matzischin moves into full guard.
Kingston wants to control from the top but Matzischin keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kingston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matzischin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kingston trying to control but Matzischin is working from the bottom. Matzischin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kingston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Matzischin scores with the left hand. Kingston knows he should have avoided that one. Matzischin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Matzischin moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matzischin punishes Kingston's body with a nice straight punch. Kingston takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Matzischin jabs Kingston right on the nose. Kingston blinks but takes it well. Matzischin drops Kingston with a left and a right! Oh, Kingston is hurt - Matzischin dives into side control looking to finish!
A lull in the action here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kingston struggling a bit here. Kingston is not content to let Matzischin control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zarius Matzischin dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kingston shoots in for a double leg but Matzischin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Matzischin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kingston circles away quickly and effectively. Kingston uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Matzischin. Matzischin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Matzischin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kingston stumbles backwards against the cage. Matzischin steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Kingston's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Kingston just didn't come prepared.
