The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Offord Burnside has been cut. Hicks swings away with a leg kick that misses. Burnside scores with a push kick. Burnside tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hicks swivels and escapes. Hicks stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hicks throws a series of punches but Burnside moves out of range. Hicks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Burnside has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hicks finds it's way round the side to connect with Burnside's head. Burnside moves into the clinch. Hicks wants to break free but Burnside has control.

Hicks is looking to improve his position but Burnside isn't that keen on the idea. Burnside trying to control but Hicks is having none of it. Hicks working to try and regain half guard.

Hicks tries to bum rush Burnside with a series of wild strikes but Burnside uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Burnside displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hicks throws out the jab. A jab from Hicks does it's job there. A punch combination from Hicks misses. Hicks throws a right and a left that Burnside avoids nicely.

Burnside decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burnside is controlling the pace.
Burnside's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Hicks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Burnside prevents Hicks from standing back up.

Offord Burnside has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hicks holds on and takes a little breather. Burnside is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hicks is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hicks has escaped and now he's on top! Dwayne Hicks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Burnside has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hicks can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gators bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Gators looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gators throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Whites's waist but Whites gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gators off to one side. Whites throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Whites is looking to clinch. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cooper tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Cooper throws a front kick that sends GSP stumbling back into the cage. Cooper closes the distance and clinches up with GSP, looking for a takedown. Cooper pushes GSP against the cage but GSP circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cooper is looking to chop away at GSP's legs. Cooper lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cooper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by GSP. Young GSP is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. GSP with a poor takedown and Cooper counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in GSP's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Young GSP.
