2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus Pappas! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerestes avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pappas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pappas lands in his opponent's guard. Kerestes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pappas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pappas wants to control from the top but Kerestes keeps moving. Pappas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kerestes keeping full guard, as Pappas tries to pass. Pappas chips away with some ground and pound. Pappas slips nicely into half guard. Pappas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pappas misses with a few strikes there.

Kerestes tries to hold on but Pappas postures up. Kerestes bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Pappas throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Pappas lands a good elbow from the bottom. Pappas throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy. Kerestes wants to stand but Pappas is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gus Pappas dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

It looks like Gus Pappas has been cut. A punch combination from Kerestes misses. Riley Kerestes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pappas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kerestes pinned against the cage. Kerestes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gus Pappas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pappas throws a combination that misses and Kerestes moves into the clinch. Pappas wants to break the clinch but can't.

and Kerestes counters with a three punch combo that has Pappas backing up. Pappas nods at Kerestes to acknowledge the strikes.
Pappas is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kerestes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pappas is still in real trouble! Can Kerestes finish him? Pappas is trying to keep Kerestes in close.
Kerestes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kerestes gets to his feet - Pappas follows without any prompting. Pappas seems to have recovered his senses. Pappas thows a body shot but no joy.

and Kerestes moves into the clinch. Pappas pressing his opponent against the cage. Kerestes manages to break the clinch.
Kerestes throws a lazy right hand but Pappas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pappas throws a right and a left that both miss. Pappas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kerestes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pappas defending well as Kerestes loads up on a big left hand. Pappas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kerestes.

Kerestes forces his way into half guard. Pappas regains full guard. Nicely done. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. and Kerestes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Pappas cracks Kerestes with a good jab. Good leg kick by Kerestes there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pappas checks a leg kick. Some wild striking there from Pappas.
Pappas slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Pappas throws a nice looking combination but Kerestes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Pappas throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Pappas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kerestes taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Kerestes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pappas creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kerestes manages to get back to half guard. Kerestes is trying to control but can't.
Kerestes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pappas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pappas's back! Pappas trying to control the hands but Kerestes won't let him. Kerestes is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pappas knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pappas for a finish. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pappas tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! and Kerestes counters with a good low kick that Pappas was not able to check. Kerestes tries to clinch up but Pappas circles away and keeps his distance. Kerestes throws a combination. Pappas tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Pappas throws a left and a right that both miss

Pappas looks for a takedown but Kerestes sprawls well. Riley Kerestes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gus Pappas. Pappas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Pappas is in close to Kerestes's body, working some short punches and elbows. Kerestes can't keep his opponent in guard - Pappas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Pappas drops an elbow to the side of Kerestes's head. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wido tries to clinch up. Wido takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Chad Lane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A lazy body kick from Lane and Wido counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lane! Lane is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Lane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lane advances position into side control! Wido tries to buck Lane off but Lane is having none of it. Wido wants to control but Lane postures up. Lane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wido, who protects the arm well. Lane stands up and we're back to a striking position. Wido gets cracked there but stands up to it.
