The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hippolati throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mike Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Hippolati tries to clinch there but Diaz circles away.

Jesse Hippolati is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hippolati has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. A head kick misses from Silva. Silva throws a sloppy head kick and zerr moves out of range easily. zerr drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. zerr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no zerr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! zerr tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. zerr working the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The ground and pound from zerr seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. zerr has an Americana. Silva didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! zerr is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if zerr hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
