0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Saint Pierre! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scaup looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Saint Pierre kicks Scaup off and gets back to his feet. Saint Pierre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Saint Pierre moves into the clinch. Scaup jumps into guard, dragging Saint Pierre to the mat.
Saint Pierre lands a couple of elbows. Saint Pierre wants to get up but he can't break Scaup's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Saint Pierre has gone for a leg lock! Scaup slips out almost immediately though and dives into Saint Pierre's guard. Scaup trying to control the position from guard on top but Saint Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Saint Pierre working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Scaup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scaup working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Saint Pierre wants to stand and escape but Scaup is having none of it. Saint Pierre looks gassed! Saint Pierre looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scaup postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Scaup preventing the sweep. Scaup trying to control the position from guard on top but Saint Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Scaup pushes Saint Pierre up against the cage in a clinch. Scaup breaks from the clinch.
Scaup fails to land the takedown. Saint Pierre keeps the fight on the outside. Scaup fails in his attempt to clinch. Scaup misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Scaup misses with a body kick. Scaup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Saint Pierre is fending him off so far but Scaup persists. Nope, Saint Pierre circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lesser Scaup. That's going to take a lot out of him. Saint Pierre shoots and misses and Scaup counters with a nice low kick that buckles Saint Pierre's knee momentarily. Scaup shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Scaup was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Scaup sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Saint Pierre has left one of his arms exposed and Scaup doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Saint Pierre screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pegando fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Young sprawls well initially but Pegando persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Young wants to get back to full guard but Pegando has mounted him! Young regains half guard. Young wants to control but Pegando is keeping busy.
Young keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Young is trying to stand.
Pegando is thwarting Young's attempts to control the position. Pegando is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Young is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pegando's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pegando's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pegando breaks Young's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Young striking off his back but it's not causing Pegando any problems. Young controls Pegando momentarily but Pegando frees himself. Pegando postures up in Young's guard and throws a big left but Young blocks it. Young looking for a guillotine here but Pegando defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pegando is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Young misses with a takedown and Pegando counters with a nice double leg into side control. Young won't be happy with that. Pegando trying to control the position but Young is working away. Pegando has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Young! Pegando postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Young looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pegando cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Young is wriggling around trying to escape.
Young is bucking up trying to escape but Pegando cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pegando controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pegando lands a nice shot to the head. Pegando content just to control the position here. Pegando unloading with bombs! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. BOOM! Pegando connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Pegando putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Pegando takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pegando lands a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bates with a body punch. A glancing blow. Tripp misses with a few strikes there.
Tripp misses with a takedown attempt - Bates sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Bates throws a nice outside leg kick. Tripp looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Tripp shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bates as he avoids it easily. Norman Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakob Van Tripp. Bates misses with a wild combination.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Tripp keeps the fight on the outside. Tripp fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Bates goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Bates misses with the combination.

Tripp had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Tripp shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bates pinned against the cage. Bates gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Tripp looks gassed! Bates moves in looking to clinch but Tripp pushes him off. Bates misses with a body shot.
Bates throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bates misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates throws a series of punches but Tripp avoids them all with ease. Bates looks to land a combination. Tripp sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Jakob Van Tripp has been cut. Bates swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Tripp holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Bates just leaning against Tripp, taking a breather. Bates connects with a nasty looking knee right to Tripp's face.
Bates creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Tripp's defenses. Tripp takes a knee right on the jaw!

Bates has Tripp pushed against the cage. Bates lands an elbow that stopped Tripp in his tracks for a moment. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tripp takes an elbow to the forehead. Tripp goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bates prevents it.
Bates lands a nice knee to the body. Bates breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tripp circles away from the clinch attempt.

Tripp ducks under a wild hook from Bates. Tripp tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bates swivels and escapes. Bates darts in and clinches Tripp up against the cage. Bates lands an elbow inside. Tripp is breathing heavily. Tripp has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bates is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Norman Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakob Van Tripp. Bates gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. The referee calls for Bates to work.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Daniels wants to control but skantze is having none of it. skantze trying to control but he's not successful this time. Daniels blocking the ground and pound. skantze prevents Daniels from getting the reversal. skantze is working for a guillotine from mount but Daniels frees his head quite easily.

Daniels slips out almost immediately though and dives into skantze's guard.

Daniels wants to control from the top but skantze keeps moving. skantze pulls Daniels in close to prevent any damage. skantze is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Daniels gets to his feet. skantze looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. skantze lands a head kick. Daniels smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Daniels scores with a head kick.
skantze tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. skantze closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - skantze lands in his opponent's guard. Daniels wants to stand up but skantze is controlling him. skantze postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. skantze would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
chai skantze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Daniels closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Daniels turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. skantze shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. skantze fails in his attempt to clinch. Daniels fails with an attempt to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels tries to clinch up. Daniels changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. skantze tries to avoid it but Daniels manages to keep hold of a leg and drag skantze to the ground. skantze escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. skantze tries to clinch there but Daniels circles away.

The fighters roll with the hold and Daniels manages to kick skantze off! skantze jumps back into Daniels's guard. Daniels is looking to stand up but skantze isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Daniels is trying to keep skantze in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by skantze!

Daniels is trying to control skantze's posture but skantze avoids it. skantze stands up and we're back to a striking position. Daniels misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Despite being in the dominant position, Augustus Cole just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cole ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Cole might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Cole jabs at Freeman's body. Cole instigates a clinch. And that's the end of the fight! Augustus Cole comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Cole has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
