Grant wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A big left from Grant misses.
Grant throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Oh, that's a big right hand from Grant and Needell goes tumbling to the canvas! Grant follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Needell is rocked!

It looks like Tiff Needell has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Grant decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Oh Needell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

D is looking to improve his position but Kennedy isn't that keen on the idea.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kennedy takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Kennedy feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends D sprawling to the canvas! D rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kennedy finish him?!

D is rocked!

D bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
D with the ground and pound but Kennedy regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
D not landing any meaningful shots this time.

D is looking for a kimura here.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Kennedy regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from D.

Kennedy pulls D in close to his closed guard and prevents D from doing any damage or advancing position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
D trying to control but Kennedy is working from the bottom.
Kennedy is trying to control the position but D postures up.
D passes Kennedy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

D is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kennedy defends it well.
D prevents Kennedy from improving his position.

Kennedy is trying to maintain the position but D is very close to passing his half guard.
Jeff Kennedy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
D takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
D tries to pass to full mount but Kennedy defends it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
D throwing shots but Kennedy is blocking nicely.
Kennedy wants to improve his position but D is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kennedy scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Kennedy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
D takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
D shoots in for a double leg but Kennedy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Well Kennedy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
