2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aroon Ricard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sheep Shane! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ricard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shane connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ricard momentarily.
Shane throws a shot from downtown. Ricard moves away and avoids it. Ricard misses with a body punch
enabling Shane to counter with a crisp jab. Shane lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Nice defenses there by Ricard. Shane swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ricard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Some wild striking there from Shane.
Sheep Shane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ricard uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shane. A jab from Shane does it's job there.
Ricard is rocked! Shane swinging wilding here.
Shane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ricard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shane as he jumps to the side. Ricard keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shane misses with an uppercut. Ricard moves away from the strike by Shane. Shane throws a jab when Ricard was well out of range. Ricard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ricard lands in his opponent's guard. Ricard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shane swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ricard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Shane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ricard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ricard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ricard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ricard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shane swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ricard trying to control the position from guard on top but Shane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shane wants to sweep here but Ricard controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shane throws a jab but it's blocked by Ricard. Ricard slips a jab from Shane. Shane scores with a jab. Ricard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Shane misses. Shane throws a big shot that misses. Ricard takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ricard is breathing heavily. A swing and a miss from Shane. Ricard fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aroon Ricard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from Shane as Ricard shoots in. Shane with a jab. Shane throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ricard. Ricard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ricard showed some decent athleticism there. Shane moves into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ricard is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shane is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shane has escaped and now he's on top! Ricard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shane gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Shane passes into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shane is working for a kimura but Ricard is defending it quite comfortably.

Shane lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ricard backs up against the cage.
Shane misses with an uppercut. Ricard saw that one coming. Ricard has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Shane throws a hook but Ricard avoids it easily. A shot to de liver by Shane. Beautiful body shot. Shane misses with an uppercut. Ricard tries for a takedown but Shane circles away easily enabling Shane to counter with a crisp jab. Ricard showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shane.
A combination from Shane does no damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shane throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ricard moves away from the strike by Shane. Ricard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shane as he avoids it easily. Nice defenses there by Ricard. Ricard dodges the punch combination from Shane.
Ricard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aroon Ricard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ricard dodges the punch combination from Shane.

Sheep Shane seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shane scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ricard on the wrong end of a nice jab. Ricard pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shane is out of range and Ricard settles back down. Shane gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ricard wants to control from the top but Shane keeps moving. Ricard preventing the sweep. Shane working for a triangle but Ricard defends it easily.
Ricard drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shane manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ricard has Shane in his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ricard is looking for a triangle here but Shane uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Shane works to advance to full mount. Ricard defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Ricard stops Shane from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Ricard is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shane looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Ricard slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Ricard trying to control here.

Ricard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ricard drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shane dives on top into guard. Shane is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ricard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shane. Shane is working for a kimura but Ricard is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ricard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ricard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shane knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Shane manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Aroon Ricard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ricard is trying to work for a kimura but Shane is defending well.
Ricard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Shane is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ricard trying to control from Shane's half guard. Shane has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ricard preventing the sweep. Shane is looking for a triangle but Ricard pushes his legs off easily.
Ricard trying to control the position from guard on top but Shane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ricard stands and throws Shane's legs to the side, diving into side control. Ricard works to advance to full mount. Shane defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Shane is looking to improve his position but Ricard isn't that keen on the idea. Aroon Ricard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shane is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Sheep Shane. I've got Shane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coelho throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Coelho connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Coelho misses with the combination.
Enrrique stuffs the takedown attempt from Coelho. Coelho gets slowly back to his feet. Coelho feints and as Enrrique raises his hands in defense, Coelho changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Coelho has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Enrrique is proving hard to escape from. Coelho trying to control but Enrrique is working from the bottom. Coelho stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Enrrique has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Coelho manages to get his head free but now Enrrique has transitioned to an armbar! Coelho grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Enrrique! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

A head kick lands from Blake that sends Chamberpot to the canvas. Chamberpot tries to scramble back to his feet but Blake brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Jobber Chamberpot has been cut. Chamberpot can't do much from the bottom here. Blake looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Chamberpot tries to buck Blake off but Blake is having none of it. Blake goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chamberpot has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Blake but great work by Chamberpot. Chamberpot decides to stand back up. Chamberpot steps back and let's Blake get back to his feet. Chamberpot closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Chamberpot is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Chamberpot is pressed up against the cage. Blake has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Chamberpot down to the mat. Chamberpot avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Blake is breathing heavily. Blake has a takedown stuffed. A left and a right from Chamberpot both land. Nice combination.

Uh oh. Chamberpot wants to control the pace but Blake is squirming around nicely.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henrique changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ravese looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Ravese is looking to regain half guard here but Henrique keeps moving and retains side control. Henrique working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Ravese regains half guard, as Henrique was trying to land strikes. Henrique is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ravese defends it well. Henrique seems to be working for a kimura but Ravese defends the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henrique wants to pass the guard but Ravese is defending well. Henrique stalling away here and it's allowed Ravese to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Henrique trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Henrique with a flurry of punches that miss. Ravese is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Ravese will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierre tries a head kick but it misses.
Ruas looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Pierre shoots in for a double leg but Ruas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ruas paws at him with a jab and circles away. Pierre fails with a takedown attempt. Pierre shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Pierre is going olschool here, as he tries to force Ruas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ruas shrugs it off. Ruas reaches up to try and control the position but Pierre seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ruas rolls and tries to escape and now Pierre has his back!
Pierre looking for the RNC. Pierre is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ruas knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ruas for a finish.

Ruas remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Pierre will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Ruas just trying to survive but Pierre is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Pierre has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Ruas! Can he survive? No! He's out! Pierre gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machida throws a head kick that misses. Machida shoots in for a double leg but Sousa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sousa misses with a takedown and Machida decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sousa's guard. Machida prevents Sousa from getting back to his feet. Machida trying to control the position from guard on top but Sousa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sousa is working an open guard so Machida takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Sousa drives through and clinches with Machida against the cage.
Machida drags the fight down to the ground.
Machida is pulling down on Sousa's head. It's preventing any offense from Sousa, at least for the moment. Sousa wants to stand but Machida has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Sousa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sousa is breathing heavily.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Sousa is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Sousa trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Machida in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Let's hope that Machida has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Sousa is trying to stand up. Machida looking to control and managing it successfully. Machida looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. You get the feeling that Sousa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Machida controlling the position easily from mount. Sousa wants to try and get back to his feet. Sousa is squirming around, avoiding Machida's attempts to control the action. Sousa has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Machida has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Sousa's body.

Yoto Machida dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Machida doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sousa counters with a single leg into guard. Machida didn't expect that. Machida is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Machida closes the distance and clinches. Machida tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sousa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Machida walks away with a smile on his face. Sousa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sousa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Machida counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sousa's guard now. Machida decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sousa, up you get!

He's got his arms around Sousa's waist but Sousa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Machida off to one side. Luan Sousa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoto Machida. Machida is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sousa feints and then cracks Machida's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Machida down. Sousa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Machida counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Machida is looking to take a break and control but Sousa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Yoto Machida has got the better of the ground game so far. Sousa kicks off Machida and gets to his feet. Sousa shoots in and bounces Machida off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Machida is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sousa gets to his feet. Machida looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Machida shoots for a double leg takedown but Sousa sprawls well. He's pushed Machida's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Machida fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Machida shoots in looking for a takedown. Sousa tries to sprawl out of it but Machida keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sousa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Machida fails with the takedown and Sousa counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Machida tries to pull guard but Sousa holds him up against the cage and eventually Machida drops back down to his feet.

Machida looks for a takedown but Sousa sprawls well. Sousa scoring well with a low kick there.
Machida feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Machida drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sousa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Machida has Sousa in his guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sousa is looking to stand up but Machida won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The ref makes him back up and allows Machida to get to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Machida fails with the takedown. Luan Sousa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoto Machida. Machida takes one to the chin there.

Sousa just stands there and leans against the cage. Machida has had enough of the clinch but Sousa keeps him there for the moment. Sousa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A punch combination from Machida misses. Sousa misses with a looping right.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Excellent takedown into side control there by Machida. Sousa bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Machida moves forwards but Sousa connects with a nice, crisp jab. Machida shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sousa but Sousa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Machida needs to keep his hands up - Sousa had a free shot at his head there. Machida closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sousa circles away. Sousa bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Machida's head. Machida forces Sousa back against the cage and clinches. Sousa slowing the pace effectively.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Machida walks away with a smile on his face. Sousa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Sousa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Machida fails with a takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Sousa as Machida shoots in. Sousa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Machida wants to control but Sousa is keeping busy and won't allow it. It looks like Sousa is going to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Machida is pressing down on Sousa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sousa stands up from guard. Let's bang! Machida tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Sousa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. A short right from Sousa. Machida fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sousa tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Sousa lands a knee to the body.
Machida is looking to break free of the clinch but Sousa has double underhooks.
