Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Qun Curry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Lauzon! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Curry lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lauzon circles away quickly and effectively. Jab from Curry. Lauzon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Curry's waist but Curry gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lauzon off to one side. Lauzon gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Lauzon fails with the takedown. Lauzon closes the distance and clinches. Curry is trying to break the clinch but Lauzon has him pressed against the cage. Lauzon fails to pull guard.
Qun Curry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Lauzon. Curry gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lauzon.
Curry wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Curry wants to get back to striking at distance but Lauzon won't allow it.

Lauzon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Curry swats him away and circles back towards the center. Lauzon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Curry manages to avoid it. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lauzon. Curry lands with a slapping head kick. Curry looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lauzon is trying to maintain the position but Curry is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Curry stalling. Curry trying to mount his opponent but Lauzon defends it. Lauzon is trying to stand up here but Curry is controlling him well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curry misses with a takedown attempt - Lauzon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Qun Curry. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lauzon is looking to clinch but Curry is avoiding it.

Horrible takedown by Lauzon or perhaps it was just good defense by Curry which made him look bad. Qun Curry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lauzon misses with a head kick.

Curry swats away the attempt to clinch by Lauzon. Nice sprawl there from Lauzon as Curry shoots in. Curry lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Lauzon tries for a takedown but Curry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Lauzon scores with a takedown into Curry's guard. Lauzon wants to stand but Curry has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Lauzon wants to control from the top but Curry keeps moving. Lauzon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lauzon looking to pass the guard. Lauzon trying to control but Curry is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Curry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Lauzon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Qun Curry. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Curry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. fili is trying to trip Bol. He has hold of a leg but Bol is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. fili persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. fili decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Bol misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

fili has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bol clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bol staying busy and making it hard for fili to control. fili knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bol on the ground. Bol tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! fili controlling from the full mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bol is in all sorts of trouble here.

Bol drops his hands momentarily and fili takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. fili is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bol can do to turn this around? A head kick misses from Bol. fili blocks a head kick by Bol.

Bol tries to keep at a distance but fili has taken the fight into the clinch. fili turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! fili stands up and beckons Bol to his feet. Gavrik looks to land a combination but Garganius avoids it well. Gavrik comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Garganius tries for a takedown but Gavrik sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gavrik fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Garganius, pushing him back against the cage. Garganius landing knees to the body.

Garganius is trying to drag Gavrik to the mat but Gavrik just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Garganius pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gavrik clinches up against the cage. Garganius lands an elbow inside that Gavrik shrugs off. Garganius's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gavrik accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Garganius avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Garganius is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gavrik cracks Garganius with a right hand to the side of the head. Gavrik uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Garganius. Garganius throws a head kick but Gavrik moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gavrik scores with a hook. Garganius ducks right into an uppercut from Gavrik. Horrible takedown by Gavrik or perhaps it was just good defense by Garganius which made him look bad. Gavrik has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Garganius throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gavrik's waist but Gavrik gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Garganius off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juskki Garganius. That's going to take a lot out of him. Garganius takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Gavrik closes the distance and lands a one-two. A jab from Gavrik finds it's way through Garganius's defenses. Nice shot by Gavrik. Simeon Drussovoc has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Muilu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
