The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sapponen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kang tries to avoid it but Sapponen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kang to the ground. Kang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sapponen gets a takedown into half guard. Sapponen is looking to advance position but Kang won't allow it. Sapponen uses his free foot to push down on Kang's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kang. Kang is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Sapponen wants to finish this one by submission but Kang is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sapponen. Kang could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sapponen working for a guillotine from mount but Kang is in no mood to give up. Kang is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sapponen has control of Kang's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kang regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sevket is looking to slow Drake down with leg kicks. Drake throws a big shot that misses. Drake bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Sevket! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
It looks like Derya Sevket has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sevket looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Drake loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Drake must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Drake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Sevket has his foot on Drake's thigh.
