The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao tries a low kick but Azevedo avoids it.
Lao fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Azevedo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Azevedo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lao is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lao and Azevedo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Azevedo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lao turns into him and now he's in Azevedo's guard.
