Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Valnokov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Tohump! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tohump throws a nice looking combination but Valnokov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Valnokov thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Tohump if he has to take too many more of those.
Ivan Tohump seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tohump shoots in and drives through. Valnokov sprawls well. Tohump scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Valnokov blocks a head kick by Tohump.
Valnokov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tohump shoots in for a takedown but Valnokov shows good takedown defense. Tohump looks gassed! Tohump throws a series of punches but Valnokov avoids them all with ease.

Tohump shoots for a takedown but Valnokov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Valnokov gets in close and instigates a clinch. Valnokov lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Tohump closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valnokov circles away. Tohump looks to land a combination but Valnokov avoids it well. Valnokov wants to clinch up but Tohump keeps it at a distance. No joy there for Tohump, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Tohump is trying to drag Valnokov to the mat but Valnokov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Valnokov lands with a left to the head. Tohump closes the distance but Valnokov moves to the side and Valnokov counters with a nice leg kick. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tohump scores a takedown into full mount! Tohump jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Valnokov is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Valnokov and Tohump has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Valnokov is looking for a sweep. Tohump is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tohump tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Tohump postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Valnokov to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nice takedown defense from Valnokov. No joy for Tohump on that attempt. Ivan Tohump seems to be getting the better of the standup. and Valnokov counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tohump's knee momentarily. Tohump throws a head kick that misses and Valnokov counters with a thumping low kick. Tohump darts in trying to clinch and Valnokov makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. A bone on bone clash there as Valnokov blocks the leg kick.
Valnokov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tohump finds it's way round the side to connect with Valnokov's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Tohump is predictable there and Valnokov finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Tohump throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Valnokov moves into the clinch. Tohump manages to pull guard.
Tohump is striking from the bottom but Valnokov uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Tohump has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Valnokov is working away from the top position though. Valnokov is trying to control. Tohump wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tohump makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Tohump looks to clinch and Valnokov counters with a thumping low kick.

A punch lands to the side of Guti 's head but he takes it in his stride. Gabai misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Gabai is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Guti had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Gabai might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Guti kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Guti rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Gabai moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Guti. Guti is not content to let Gabai control the position. Gabai tries to advance to mount but Guti denies him. MCJ Guti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Guti gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Guti trying to control from the bottom.
Ground and pound from Gabai. Gabai is looking to take a break and control but Guti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gabai tries to stand but can't do so whilst Guti controls his leg. Guti tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Guti has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Guti there as he acknowledges the shot. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Guti dodges the punch combination from Gabai.
Guti throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gabai's waist but Gabai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guti off to one side. Gabai lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shevichenko throws a sloppy head kick and Rasputin moves out of range easily. Rasputin wants to clinch. Shevichenko fails with the takedown. Shevichenko fails with a takedown attempt. Shevichenko throws a body kick that misses. Rasputin slips under a jab from Shevichenko. Shevichenko misses with the combination.
Shevichenko throws a series of punches but Rasputin avoids them all with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horrible takedown by Rasputin or perhaps it was just good defense by Shevichenko which made him look bad. A combination from Shevichenko does no damage. Shevichenko throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rasputin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
