The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belisle gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Belisle content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Franklin jumps guard but Belisle stands there with Franklin around his waist. Franklin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Franklin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Belisle smiles and moves away.

Belisle has managed to clinch.

Franklin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Franklin closes the distance but Belisle moves to the side
and Belisle counters with a thumping low kick.
Franklin blocks a leg kick.
Belisle throws a nice outside leg kick.
Franklin clinches but Belisle breaks the clinch
and Belisle counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Belisle is trying to work for a kimura but Franklin is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Franklin is trying to maintain the position but Belisle is very close to passing his half guard.
Franklin wants to get back to full guard.
Belisle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Belisle is trying to control. Franklin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Franklin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Belisle seems to be working for a kimura but Franklin defends the submission attempt.
Franklin has hold of Belisle's hands but Belisle slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Belisle uses his free foot to push down on Franklin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Franklin.
Belisle avoids the attempt from Franklin to control.
Belisle lands a big shot there that rocks Franklin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dante Woods.

Mir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hamalainen was covering up waiting for the punch and Mir finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mir wanted to stand there but Hamalainen had control of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
