Freebird kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Freebird. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freebird tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch. Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Freebird on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
Jones fails to land the takedown. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Good work by Freebird as he checks the leg kick. Freebird tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Freebird's guard now. Freebird not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Freebird will be more careful next time no doubt. Horrible takedown by Freebird or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad. Freebird keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jones. Jones tries to clinch but Freebird is having none of it. Freebird gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jones makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Freebird misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones misses with a takedown attempt and Freebird counters with a takedown into side control. Jones gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Freebird stands up over Jones, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Freebird lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jones is working for a kimura but Freebird is defending it quite comfortably.
Freebird wants to get back to full guard but Jones has passed into side control. Jones jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Freebird is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Freebird and Jones has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Freebird is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jones off and has taken his back! The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Freebird's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Jones just trying to survive but Freebird is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Freebird lands strikes to the head. Freebird gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Jones turns into Freebird and is now in his guard.

Adrian Freebird has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Freebird is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.
