The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koskela stuffs the takedown attempt from Norris. Norris gets slowly back to his feet. Koskela throws a sloppy head kick and Norris moves out of range easily. Koskela closes the distance and clinches. Koskela manages to break the clinch.
Norris shoots in for a double leg but Koskela sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Norris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Koskela keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. It looks like Norris is going to stand back up.
Norris not landing any meaningful shots this time. Norris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Koskela avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Norris.

Norris is rocked! Norris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Koskela leaves Norris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Oh Norris is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Koskela throws a quick head kick that knocks Norris silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Koskela is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Hernandez. Hernandez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hernandez prevents Mattila from escaping the position. Hernandez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mattila has escaped the position, nice work there. Mattila wants to get back to his feet. Hernandez controlling the position from side mount. Hernandez working the head with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hernandez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hernandez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mattila, who protects the arm well. Hernandez is breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Mattila's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mattila tries to clinch but Hernandez moves out of range. Markus Mattila seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hernandez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mattila sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hernandez somewhat. Hernandez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mattila is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Mattila works his way back into a safe position though. Mattila is in close to Hernandez's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hernandez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mattila in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mattila tries to stand but Hernandez is controlling from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hernandez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mattila's waist but Mattila gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hernandez off to one side. Mattila pushes Hernandez away with a front kick. Mattila rushes Hernandez and presses him up against the cage. Hernandez has had enough of the clinch but Mattila keeps him there for the moment. Hernandez fails to pull guard.
Jose Hernandez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hernandez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mattila gets the underhooks and prevents it.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jose Hernandez. Well Mattila has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. It looks like Mikael Koskinen has been cut. Koskinen leaves Wewito with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
